It seems some on here are using our positive form of late to disguise how poor this window has been but to me it seems that yet again this SMT are not fit for purpose. A few scraped wins are nowhere near enough to convince me that we can get promoted this season and I had hoped the squad cull would see more quality through the entrance.
We've lost one game in the league since 7th December, "a few scraped wins" does feel just a tiny bit disingenuous there. I don't disagree that more quality in would definitely have been better but there's a difference between underwhelming and outright poor and I'm leaning more to the former personally.

I’ll stand by scraped wins as apart from Northampton and Bristol Rovers, wins have been by the odd goal and far from comfortable. I’d also add a number of wins have been against lower end of the table teams. We also played Bolton at the perfect time.
I get why what I’m saying could be shot at but I just don’t think we look convincing and are at best inconsistent. I fear we’ll end up in 7th or 8th and our failure to add the quality that was expected, even if limited, will haunt us at the end of the season.
We as fans have been starved for so long of what a good football team and club look like, that when a few crumbs get thrown to us, I fear there is too much cap doffing towards those above.

Stand by it, it's the truth.
I've had ridiculous adrenaline rushes from us beating Shrewsbury and Bolton so late on. The reality is though, we nearly lost to Shrewsbury and then won it with the last kick, then we were fortunate with a complete deflection against Bolton.
You can enjoy those wins and praise the club for it, while also having the view that they were fairly lucky wins, and strengthening would have increased our chances of getting that kind of luck as the season goes on.
It's got to a point where there is a weird status quo of blind happiness on this forum where you have to be cautious before posting anything against the grain that could be seen as constructive criticism.
The window was abysmal. Hopefully the team we have got is enough and we steer clear of injuries.
That's piss poor then, the cover we desperately needed for Small/Campbell wasn't brought in
Watson/Dixon
Just trying to imagine that.
Small’s spent 70 minutes running up and down the right wing, taking on players using his pace, strength and tricks.
Then when we need a goal we sub him off to let Watson have a go at doing the same.
More likely to bring on Mitchell and move Ramsay to RWB. (He's not hugely attacking, but probably more of a threat than Watson)
Watson isn't bad as an attacking full back, I seem to remember a few decent runs with the ball last season. Ramsay is much better defensively though, so they could be a reasonable combination.
Small clearly is much more of an attacking threat than either of course.
I tell you something, and the stats will back me up. Watson is a much better finisher than Small!
Unsure what to make of that window. On the one hand we were told that it would be quiet with maybe a couple of incomings alongside some squad trimming. In that respect they've followed through with what they said.
On the other hand, we were told we'd be adding real quality and the two incomings don't scream 'better than we've already got'. Although I will at least wait to see them play before passing final judgement.
On top of that, a handful of injuries will now see us with academy players on the bench again.
From first impressions I can't say the squad is stronger now than it was when the window opened.

I actually believe it’s the opposite.
We’ve been starved of a good team for long enough that people have built up what’s required in their head to an unrealistic level.
You don’t have to build a 100+ point team. Obviously that would be really nice but it’s unrealistic to expect that - that’s a once in a generation / lifetime type of season for a club like ours.
This league is bad. And you don’t have to be that good to get out of it.
Last time we got promoted we were losing to Rochdale, Scunthorpe and the like in November. We scraped late wins against Burton, Accrington Stanley and AFC Wimbledon through the winter. We had a very quiet January.
And despite all of that we ended up 3rd and winning the playoffs.
Underwhelmed by the two signings, but purely down to fact haven't heard of either of them, so that's partly on me too. Hopefully, they can produce some great - at least decent - performances and keep the top 6 dream alive.
I presume the pure quality players Jones mentioned just weren't available in the end.
Big clear out of squad players who have barely played for us this season. Let's hope that's getting ready for the summer, rather than purely a money cutting objective.
Comparing promotions with the 2019 play off mob of Bauer Djiksteel Bielik Cullen Aribo Taylor like there is any chance of having an end to the season that we had with that lot is ridiculous, as time went on those players were beyond magnificent and all continued at a higher level . We haven’t got that this time but we do have a high budget of allegedly 4th in the division. A well paid management team who can talk waffle and draw large salaries for a league One team. I mean anything but promotion is failure, 3rd and not winning the play offs gains nothing for next season , just ask Bolton . Aim low and we won’t miss . Transfer window of trimming down the most recent batch of shit that signed for us woohoo, keeping Leaburn and TC is decent enough but will be a wasted opportunity if we don’t get promoted while we have those two decent players . We’re in our worst footballing period of our history , living in league one is hell . our nearest neighbours are getting in 7 players in the league above this window and the other mob are turning down £65m for players , we have never been so far behind either of them . We don’t own our own ground and are about as attractive as a 1.59am pick up from T’s back in the day . Hey don’t be down though we’re doing better than our worst season in 97 years …whooopeee fucking do Strike why the iron is hot and we minged about , come on these two signings reek of desperation , last minute loans.com , yeah sure loads of competition to get them two over the line . Be a miracle if either becomes a regular part of a promotion winning team for us. Utter guff but because we’ve been uber shit in recent times let’s take it very slowly and be bled by the smooth talking parasites who are over earning and under producing for these naive owners . an opportunity has been missed to increase our chances of promotion, why , well there’ll be bullshit financial targets that the wafflers have mis sold the ownership and we have to keep it tight , yeah great lose millions or lose millions it’s what league one is about . the owners will get itchy feet with failed promises and that’s where we’re heading .
not all doom and gloom we’re a 35% chance of making the playoffs offs still imo gaining promotion once in them will be throwing a dice we haven’t increased our odds of winning them this window but they prolly haven’t got worse !
Sorry for the complete load of waffle but I’m bored (i wish ) shitless on the khazi
Really disappointed with the incoming business. Methven said it would be a mistake not to bring in the attacking players needed to give us a real chance and how it would be poor if they looked back at the end of the season and didn’t back Jones and sign the players.
Well, we have got in a player with decent pedigree on loan from Middlesbrough but hasn’t played much football and failed to bring in any other attacking player. We lack pace with TC and Small and that was so clear to see.
They’ll say about streamlining the squad etc but we lack quality in depth. An injury to the wrong player and we risk our season being derailed.
They’ve let us down in my opinion. They had all month to sign someone for that. They failed to do so.

Agree. You can’t help feeling this window looks like a cost cutting exercise and not a ‘let’s throw the kitchen sink at it now the players have miraculously got us to joint 6th’ Disappointing.

Really bad business in my eyes. Shows they weren’t serious about promotion
I thought it was a very good window. We now have back up for the much maligned Gillesphey and a little bit of pressure applied for him to keep his place. Got rid of Campbell, Edun and REG and Pottts, none of whom were on the smallest of wages, considering where they came from. Now have a proper replacement for Luke Berry, rather than bringing on Karoy Anderson and changing the shape. Loaned out the young players in Assimwe and Mitchell, and gave Taylor game time at Northampton, all needed to be playing first team football, not just spending time at the training ground with no prospect of playing.. Lastly, didn't lose Small, Leaburn or Tyreece Campbell. Yeah I'm happy with that.
Overall I'd have to say this transfer window was very underwhelming.
But trying to stay positive of the 8 players to leave Hylton and Potts were both only signed on short contracts Campbell was utterly useless Two youngsters have been loaned out to hopefully get gametime and gain experience. So only really Eden and Reg and Taylor they were only squad players anyway. As for the Two players we bought in I shall reserve judgement until I've seen them play.
I do think we missed an opportunity though to bring in a top signing and really have a good go at promotion this season. It all seems a bit of a costcutting exercise really.
Immediate optics on this window aren't great. Both incomings done on the last day when there were weeks to do business and really give us a chance to build on our recent momentum.
No money spent. Both loans and neither with real game time for their parent clubs. Yes we've moved on peripheral players but we're going to be relying on our kids if we have more than a couple of injuries.
I am looking forward to seeing what Gilbert can bring as I'm hoping he's the type of player we've been missing to add that bit of guile.
Time will tell but feels like a bit of a belt tightening window and an opportunity missed.
Can't help but feel like a bit of a missed opportunity. Yes we've addressed positions of need and not managed to shoot ourselves in the foot and sold a key player at 10:55pm but I can't help but feel a bit meh about it all.
Edge of the playoffs and not pushing the boat out for some real difference makers feels like a missed opportunity. The Sunderland lad that didn't get completed stats wise just looks like another Dixon so was clearly a last minute flyer on who could be available.
Would have liked cover for Coventry and a winger/forward because I'm worried that style wise if we lost Cov or TC for any amount of time the current style of play wouldn't work as well.
The key to the window was keeping Small/Jones and add quality. It's just a shame we couldn't add quality to the squad. I think it'll be too much to ask now to make the play offs.
Feels like a missed opportunity. We have created space, both in the squad and financially but failed to fill it. But if Gilbert comes off it might turn out to great. Who knows, currently feeling very underwhelmed.

Oh wait......he wasn't a first team player but an U23's. Definitely an upgrade then 🙄🤔.
