I have to admit a few weeks ago I never thought we'd be on the cusp of the playoffs but we are and 3 positions are available to push for.

Not bringing anybody in would be criminal because with our injury record we need quality cover.

This is the worse league to get out of jyst ask Leeds fans what they thought of it.

Its interesting though that both us and Leeds have billionaire connections with the San Francisco 49's on their side but my Leeds mate is doing his nut in as they are top and need bodies to get them over the line and the only player they are looking at is a Southampton forward who's hardly played this season.

It seems both Leeds and our owners are all mouth and no wallets... Wasting a gilt edge opportunity to get to the championship now is crazy, screw this 'its a project bollox' take the bloody opportunity now.

    Frustrating is not the word.
Currently sitting top of the Championship & having thrashed Swansea 7 nil yesterday I don't think Leeds fans have anything to complain about.
    It was Cardiff.
Leeds really dont need to sign anyone if they managed to thrash Cardiff AND Swansea 7-0!!
  • No issue with it being a loan, need an alternative to Berry for the now, sure if it's a good move for all involved we can make it a permanent in the summer
  • Didn’t Dubai say we want perm but boro stalling means more likely a loan
  • Gilbert on loan and a winger in on a permanent would be okay. Still a bit concerned if we lost Coventry for any period of time we'd be in a bit of bother.

The Daily Mail mentioned it was a loan on Wednesday
  • Awaiting Gilbert's showreel.

Good luck with that amount of playtime

I'm not knocking Gilbert's qualities - I have seen hardly anything of him, but as it stands he has played 7 times this season for Middlesborough in the league and in total 10 games he's appeared in, for a total of 340 minutes, in which he has one goal, no assists, ten touches in the opposition box, six successful lay offs, one successful dribble and one yellow card.

How long will it take him to get match fit.  He has appeared in a total of 27 games in the league in his career.   A lot to put on the young, inexperienced shoulders.    League 1 is a brutal division.   Not played in League 1 and it was 3 years ago, but 8 appearances in Swindon with no goals.

I think our transfer record over the last 5 years means they’re all a bit guilty before they’re proven innocent for me.  With every name (most of which I haven’t heard of, because I am out of touch with football in general), I don’t think they’ll be up to much.

The likes of Ramsay, Small and Lloyd Jones I’ve been pleasantly surprised with this season, Edwards is solid to.  But then I look back to when Fraser arrived.  I genuinely thought, great signing, he was an absolute fraud and pathetic excuse of a footballer.

I think the type of player we’re going for is getting better, so hopefully this chap has the potential.  I’m just not sure if it’s him alone as the only incoming, it will give us what we need to get up this season

Doesnt help when a player comes from the Championship or Premier League and arent of a certain age to qualify as a Youth prospect. So you have to wonder why they're dropping down a level, is it because they're simply not good enough?

I worry if they dropping down a level because they're losing the desire and hunger for the game, whereas a player on the up is going to have a bit of swagger and confidence about their ability

i guess in theory, he may not be deemed good enough atm, for a promotion push in champ, but good enough for top end league 1 - that's all that matters atm
  • I can clear all this confusion up.

My dog, Gilbert, has just signed a 3 year contract and will be available for selection next weekend.
    Signed from Barking?
    Wolfsburg.
In the end it fell through because he wanted to bring his chum with him!
  • The funniest thing possible is that we sign no-one before the window closes and then re-sign Hylton on a free after. The meltdown on here would probably be better than winning the Play-Offs
Some people clearly want to see the world burn ;)

I know you, Garrymanilow. I know your feelings on Hylton. I know this is what you want

(I would also enjoy this, to be clear, but I do have a sick desire to see Son Of Gilbey happen too)

I thought we missed him in the last 15 mins yesterday

we can only have him on wednesdays
  • I thought Nathan wasn’t interested in loans…
He wasn't until the owner told him it was that or nothing.

    Ooops, my bad.

I knew it was a team from South Wales.

It’s got nothing to do with the owners. Listen to Jones (Manager). The transfers are down to me alone. I have GREAT SUPPORT  from the owners. I will decide if players are good enough TO JOIN CHARLTON.

Been said many many times but people choose not to listen Jones is in total charge of choosing the players that come to the club and leave the club …. So far the owners have backed him is every player he wanted

Could be a loan with an ‘option to buy’ at the end of the season.

i.e we loan him now but have agreed a price we would pay in the summer if we decide to make the deal permanent. Fairly common for agreements like this to be written into loan contracts.
Not a bad idea. They guy will have to work hard to impress before getting a contract.
He's already got one with 'Boro......and probably more lucrative than we will offer.

looks like he needs first team game time more than anything so doing well if he comes to us will be the only way he'll get it
  • So who makes way for Gilbert in the team then?

oh, the daily mail,  must be right then, they are always right up there with the truth...

I would think Berry as the AMC, but long season so rotation.
