Was told that Allen Campbell was our highest paid player before he went (won't quote the rediculous figure stated)

Obviously took this with a large pinch of salt, but anyone know if there's any element of fact in this?
He would be the highest paid overall, as he’s on a championship wage at Luton. We wouldn’t have been paying all of it though

Forgot he was only on loan

    He'll pass that.
i'm not 100% convinced he isn't terry taylor with a moustache
  • I thought Nathan wasn’t interested in loans…
    Not what he said.

He said he'd much prefer to develop our own players and likes people to be around for a while so they buy into the project but would take loans if they added quality.
He originally said that he wasn't interested in improving other teams players by taking loans iirc,
clearly now he seems to be having no other choice...🙄
When you’re finished with your tinfoil hat can I borrow it?
  • Would be nice to get someone decent in tomorrow but I would be reasonably happy if we used some of the money available to get Thierry signed up.

Though also by all accounts this is a loan with either an option to buy at the end of it or a view to making an offer. If he does well for us we'll likely try to make him permanent

Anyone wondering if we’ve been assuming it’s Alex and in fact it’s Rhod?

You are right it could be a return of Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience.

Let me quash that.  We were hardly paying anything for him.
    Still too much!
  • An interesting thing will be to what extent Scott is quoted / pictured in the formal announcement.
  • FFS stick to the thread title. I have just wasted five minutes of my limited future life, scrolling through garbage.
If you’ve already done it, it’s part of your past, not your future.
    🤔

Along with Rodwell he does the talking over fee , loan fee , wages etc etc so yes he will say something once the deal is done …. and rightly so that’s his role
    Tosh!

    Probably Billy.

Alex Gilbert is with the same agency as Gallagher, Famewo, Gilbey, Leko, Washington and Egbo to name a few ex Charlton players.

With Jones links, it’s also the same agency as Harry Cornick.
I take it back regards how extensive scouting network.

  • I wonder how many clubs were interested in Ahadme.

Him not being in the squad recently suggests we have been trying to offload.
    He’s injured apparently

To be fair, I think it’s probably how a lot of recruitment works, especially outside the top two leagues as it’s about favours and relationships a lot more than going out and building huge scouting networks across the globe. We aren’t a Peterborough for example where we pick up gems from raw scouting so things like having contacts with certain agencies is probably quite normal.

Also, those ex Charlton players are all Gallen era, not Scott. The only connection I could find immediately with Jones was Cornick, who has also been mentioned a few times this window.

Sometimes, as we know Cawley got good info from Gallen and Bowyer, maybe he also has contacts at this agency and is why/how he can put the story out about Gilbert. Just another take/view on things.
Totally appreciate this and cannot disagree with what you have posted.
I'm an old fart and yearn for the old days of watching a player live etc.
  • Gilbert from the clips looked like he could knock a decent pass around.  If he helps us control the ball more and also exploit diagonals to TC and Small he should be a very good addition.

Ahadme was available for Blackpool according to NJ pre-match interview

I honestly wouldn't be that surprised to see a late loan move for him. Just don't see where he's going to get regular minutes for us from
