For a lot of people who work and have kids, a pint at the football might be their only chance to have a drink and catch up with mates. I've no doubt there are some people who see each other very rarely other than at the home games. It's not really that difficult to understand.

Why come to the Wrexham game, and then give up on the rest of the season?
A couple of reasons......
I've already bought my ticket (part of the tripple bundle)
I've seen enough to know we ain't getting out of this league this season
Sold our top goalscorer & having given it 12 games I've seen enough to know that was a stupid decision.
But probably the biggest reason is I've had multiple eye surgeries over the past 10 years which has left my vision not great under lights. Come November we will be playing under floodlights which means I cant see so well.

I hope we can get something out of the Wrexham match to give you some encouragement for the rest of the season, although I do agree with you that Alfie going was a bit of a daft, short sighted idea, although I do rate Godden, Gas hasn’t proved himself worthy to lace his boots yet, even though their playing styles are completely different.
Lets hope he comes back, a lot lot stronger (and I’ve been one of his biggest defendants on here).
Miles, although he looked rusty yesterday, is a positive, and we look a better team, with him in it.
Ramsey getting injured is a gutter, as he looks class, just as he was settling in.
Just hope we don’t play round holes and square pegs to fill his position, as it doesn’t work.
I get you don’t want to watch dross, and commit to another season I league, as many people I k ow, have already given up, and come to the additional match, which is sad and an indictment of how the clubs been run in recent years.
I think one the advantages of nearly selling out for the Wrexham game are that the owners (who no doubt will be over) will have it confirmed that the valley can be sold out. That might lead to further investment to the squad and the infrastructure especially if they see the chaos caused by the queues etc for the shop, beer, fan zones etc., which will indicate wasted opportunity for extra income. Yes, there will be inconveniences for us season tickets holders, but these might lead to better things (or might not).

Those that go down to the bar early are doing a favour to those that wait for the half time whistle to go but still want to try and get a drink or something to eat. Heaven forbid that everybody waits for the whistle before jumping up and trying to get down the tunnels at the same time. They’d all be still queuing to get down there when the second half kicks off.

There is only a 15 minute window to get served at half time if you want to watch every kick of the match. Those that go down to the bar early are doing a favour to those that wait for the half time whistle to go but still want to try and get a drink or something to eat. Heaven forbid that everybody waits for the whistle before jumping up and trying to get down the tunnels at the same time. They’d all be still queuing to get down there when the second half kicks off.

Is it usual to eat something at 3.45 in the afternoon ? Most people eat lunch between 12 & 2 and have an evening meal between 6 & 8pm. Needing to have a burger & chips in the middle of the afternoon strikes me of bad meal planning.
I sympathise with those who have bladder issues & need to use the toilet regularly, but most people leaving the match between 3.40 & 4.10 are under 50 years of age.
I just wonder what they all do during the other 6 days of the week. No wonder why GDP growth in this country is in the doldrums as the workforce is constantly taking 30 min breaks during the day.

Well sure, but you can have a drink and a catch-up before and after the game. That's what I do on my increasingly rare visits to the Valley.
Besides, you bump in to some very strange people on the concourse at H-T. I once saw one Very Well Known Lifer at a Boxing Day relegation scrap against Wendies, and wished him a Happy Christmas. He responded by starting a rant about the failure of the Supporters Trust to issue minutes of meeting promptly. Twice I had to say to him ***, mate, the second-half's starting. I don't think I've bothered with a H-T concourse trip since😉
To be fair, I love a packed out Valley with a great atmosphere to match, nothing better when it drives us on to 3 points.
However, being totally honest I am not looking forward to the experience next week. I sit right in and amongst the comps of the player families and so many do not sit in their right seats, many sit in season ticket holder seats, and lots come streaming out after kick off and make the actual experience far less enjoyable. It’s actually much nicer when there are fewer player family comps.
It’s been like it for a while and really the club need to make sure they sit in their allocated seats and take into consideration there are full paying fans who want to watch the game and whose experience is not always positive because of some people’s attitudes and behaviours.
Anyway, it’s not just Golfie who can moan about things. Having a fuller capacity is great and I really hope it helps the team. Just sometimes there are negatives for fans who know their experience isn’t going to be as enjoyable. Nothing wrong in expressing that.
I’ve literally seen what I believe are new fans moaning in the family stand at stewards (printed out letter/tickets from the club in hand, so assume they are invited as part of some community engagement) that they can’t sit in already occupied seats because they’ve decided that’s where they want to sit.
Next week’s tourists can **** off, they are not coming to support Charlton, and I hope we ruin their day.
We moan we don't get big crowds, we then moan the crowds to big. Some might not be Charlton fans, some might never of been to a football match. I don’t care for the reasons, motives nor opportunism, but cannot wait to be back in a packed Valley for the first time in about 5 seasons. I hope the significantly boosted numbers can spur the lads on to a win and we get a reminding glimpse of some of our better times as a fanbase.

If they're tourists then might kill the atmosphere because most of them won't care about the result in particular.
Would be nice to see a good performance and perhaps encourage a couple to come to more games but likelihood is that they won't.
Pocket the money gained and move on.
