Barnsley v Stockport, 22 mins in Stockport getting a bit of momentum. Barnsley Goalie sits down injured, ref has to stop game, all the players run off to the manager for a team talk, keeper amazingly then ok and doesn’t have to go off

I don't understand why people are only just cottoning onto this? Danny Cowley did it every week - EVERY WEEK - when he was at Lincoln. Keeper was never injured enough to go off, not once.

Exactly what Jones did with Mannion at Reading
I know, I was just highlighting how this is now the norm.
Must be honest, never realised the Cowley’s have been doing this for a long time but doesn’t surprise me!

Common practice in Non league football for years with the keepers sitting down saying they have a calf strain when in the lead. Only in the last few years has that wasted time been added on.
Haven’t seen any games this season and bar the odd CAFC game, have only watched World Cup and Euros games in the last few years. But have been thinking for some time I might be done with football. As others have said on this thread, the game has been killed by VAR, rule changes, extra subs, fake injuries and general time wasting.
Having sat through Scotland v Hungary in the Euros , I couldn’t believe that any of the players on view should have been featuring at an elite tournament, it really was a terrible game. Most of the Euros games back in the summer were poor.
It’s clearly not just League 1 where this is happening. I used to watch the MOTD highlights every week but haven’t done so for years now. Haven’t watched an FA cup final since the late 1990s.
Now that Sky have rolled out live coverage of the lower leagues to the masses I am wondering what the mythical neutral fan is making of such games, if indeed anyone is actually tuning in.

Eh? Isn’t that the best option because all the time-wasting is editted out. Regarding live football I watch it a bit behind time so that I can fast forward the time wasting and passing it around the back. In this manner I usually only miss a couple of games in big tournaments. I now consider watching live football to be a waste of time. I only do it for FA Cup Finals as a matter of tradition.

Equally disillusioned and agree about the things you think are wrong with the game. Maybe if the authorities prioritized preventing players cheating with lengthy bans I'd feel differently. They won't though.
Of course, players could take it on themselves to help prevent referees making poor decisions by not kidding them and cheating in the first place, but it isn't a game known for the integrity of those who play it is it? Cheating is an expectation these days and has been for far too long. Probably one of the reasons we have VAR now.
Add on DOUBLE the amount of time taken by a goalie having a sit down or some defender clutching his bonce.
Mandatory yellow card for any goalkeeper doing that silly catch it and slowly flop down/smothering it thing (like the Blackpool keeper did). Oh for a keeper to spill it out to a lurking striker while doing that....

Hopefully that'll happen somewhere, but never will we be the beneficiaries.
Referees can’t do anything about a player going down injured except add the time on. It is now a utilised tactic by teams in games. What is the solution, because the referees and law makers aren’t medics?
