Pretty sure Anderson is there for the press. With the ball he really struggles. We do seem to lack the ability to create an opening aside from forcing an error from them. They have looked tidy, nice passes and beat our press on a few occasions but we seemed to have the better chances.
I worry he’s indispensable for the running power but he certainly lacks quality on the ball .  Midfield is the area of concern at the start of the season.

    What a crap penalty……my god!
Pretty even game……I’m very impressed with the way we constantly press all over the pitch, just as we did against Wigan.
Still not that impressed up front though, can’t quite put my finger on it, would like to see a ‘go to’ type midfield player who can quickly link defence with attack.
All in all I am pleased with the way things are shaping up.

Birmingham have 72% possession but 41% of the game is being played in their third of the pitch - only 26% in Charlton’s third.

Each team has had nine touches of the ball inside the opponent’s penalty area.
Funny that the goal didnt need any touches in the penalty area.

Football is such a simple game, ruined by meaningless stats.

The funny thing is until he hit that banger the left back had been playing quite poorly, giving the ball away on the pass inside a few times. It led to our penalty when he first did it. I imagine Jones is going to beat TC within an inch of his life for that penalty, as he should

Brum get a free kick near the South East corner and go forward down our right. Ball pinging about in our box, and cleared wide right. Eventually Campbell intercepts and tries to send Kanu forward, but Brum manage to clear.

Half to lol this. Oh the irony.

You give stats about how many touches there have been in the box as if that makes any difference. They scored from 25 yards fgs !

Press gives TC an opening on goal but his curling effort just clears the bar

  • Sounds like it's been a 50/50 first half undone by a good goal, so why can't we return the favour second half COYR stuff these Brummies...

Ooh! Campbell has a curling shot from just outside the area, which just goes wide of the post.
  • FFS... Nice try from Campbell, would have been a copy of their goal

Brum coming forward again, have a shot from just outside the area, which bobbles wide.
  • Good shot from TC. Another foot to the left and would have been as impressive as the opener.

Yeah very lazy from him there to almost lose it.

He's been excellent going forward at times tonight, but I can equally see why Edwards was ahead of him last time out.

Fully aware of where they scored from. Not much point arguing over it with you.

Coventry tries to send Kanu down the line. Their CB handles it and gets a yellow card

Brum passing it about nicely, we manage to clear via Coventry. Brum no 5 blatently handballs as Kanu's on the chase and gets booked for his trouble.

Jones sends the ball forward which Anderson picks up, goes wide to Watson, but his cross sails into the area, straight to their keeper.

    Another wingback who cant cross.

Good job we aren't relying on them to create chances....🙄
