Pretty dire and an unbelievable miss, did he even connect or just miss it completely?
He’s glanced it wide when he had to head it back towards the direction it had come from and there was a lot of goal available to score if he’d done that , if a defender had made the header he done to clear it you’d have been buzzing
Took his chances today when they came his way, linked up better than anyone up front I thought on Tuesday at Burton... Hopefully a sign that things are slowly turning in his favour.
Cynics will say he's found his level against lower league cup opposition. But i honestly think that despite how bad he's been for us so far, if you get regular crosses into the box, he will get his head on them and cause trouble.

He will never not look useless with the ball at his feet but he wins a lot of headers that either bring the whole team up the pitch from his knock downs, or he barges through crowds to nod balls into the net.
If he keeps doing those two things, he will keep starting and we’ll have to put up with the fact he looks like he’s never kicked a football before.

Big strikers love a cross from an advanced position, not so much from behind as a header is so much harder when you have to look over your shoulder.
Only listened to the BBC Walsall commentary today so not sure whether the Coventry cross was from an advanced or behind but both Ahadme or Leaburn need the crosses to come from crosses they can move on to which gives a better percentage to score.
Feed him crosses and he'll score some goals. He won't score every chance he gets but if he keeps getting more than 1 chance a game I'm sure he'll start scoring regularly.
Amazing isn't it, Coventry starts passing forwards and we start actually having shots on goal, and suddenly we're winning games
Its definitely Gassan's footwork that needs improvement, rather than his ability in the air - Team mates need to be closer as well, for his little flick ons, something that looked to be happening with Godden / Leaburn's movement on Tuesday night.
If he works on his passing though, even just being a bit quicker then he'll do better - One moment in the second half he had the ball to feet, and there was a simple lay off back to Coventry or Taylor that he could have done.
He'd done the hard work, bringing it under control, and holding off the defender, but he delayed, still got the pass off to someone else, but to me looked the wrong pass as the man he passed to was under his own pressure, whilst Cov / Tay were unmarked.
Thats happened a few times this season now, and is just a small area for him to improve on... As it just slows down the momentum a little bit - Glad he didnt let that Huddersfield miss bother him though, all Strikers will miss chances from time to time, it surprises me how they're expected to convert everything that comes their way.
The goals were good today as well, he did some things he hasn't been doing so far. The first one he did very well to get up and swivel in the air to get the ball on target given he wasn't facing the goal and the second wasn't exactly a difficult header but he showed a bit of aggression and desire to get there which he hasn't before. Came steaming in, got up over Karoy and two defenders and wiped out Alex Mitchell while they all just waited and watched it come down. He hasn't always shown that kind of aggression when we've put some balls across the box so I hope he keeps it up
Just to show how stats probably don't prove much BUT after today he's on 4 goals in 14 games which is just under 1 in 3... which for a "target man" would normally be a pretty good return.
I'm not for one minute genuinely saying that he's actually brilliant or underrated or that there aren't lots of other things he needs to improve but it DOES suggest that if he was actually playing the way that suited him he'd probably do a job.
The real problem as ever is Jones' apparent belief that square pegs will totally fit into round holes if they run around enough.
What strikes me is how much the rest of the squad seem to love him
It's not just the squad that love him, but his neighbours too. Quite the contrast to our previous number 9.
My dental hygienist lives on the same Sidcup cul-de-sac and Gassan, and says he is a breath of fresh air - especially given some of the challenges they have had on the "de sac" of late.
According to my hygenist, Gassan:
- Presides over an immaculately maintained garden (front and back). - Is consistently thoughtful and measured input into the cul-de-sac whatsapp group - Is friendly and approachable - Always greets and acknowledges neighbours with a smile or wave.
IMO this provides a far truer measure of Gassan the man compared to his goals per game ratio. Maybe some of the posters on this channel should reflect on the above - and potentially take a hard look at themselves??

Tbh mate, we don't really care how neat he keeps his bushes trimmed in the sidcup cul-de-sac or whether he takes Edna's paper round to her on the weekend. Keep them goals coming Gassinaldo.

Lol, is this for real?
I'm sure he's a lovely bloke, and I haven't seen anyone say any different, but are you seriously suggesting people don't comment when he plays badly just because he cuts his own grass?

During the recent cold snap my hygenist chum was called out for an emergency flossing at 6am on a Monday.
When she got the car it was completely iced over.
Before you could say "soft-bristled toothbrush" Gassan was on hand with an ice sraper and 500ml can of de-icer spray.
Still in his PJs he got to work and she was on the road in less than 5 minutes.
What do think Alfie May would have done in that situation?

Is it the start of a burning flame or just a damp squib is the question?
