What strikes me is how much the rest of the squad seem to love him
It's not just the squad that love him, but his neighbours too. Quite the contrast to our previous number 9.
My dental hygienist lives on the same Sidcup cul-de-sac and Gassan, and says he is a breath of fresh air - especially given some of the challenges they have had on the "de sac" of late.
According to my hygenist, Gassan:
- Presides over an immaculately maintained garden (front and back). - Is consistently thoughtful and measured input into the cul-de-sac whatsapp group - Is friendly and approachable - Always greets and acknowledges neighbours with a smile or wave.
IMO this provides a far truer measure of Gassan the man compared to his goals per game ratio. Maybe some of the posters on this channel should reflect on the above - and potentially take a hard look at themselves??
Gordon Bennett! This is a brilliantly funny post. I personally think Hygienists are good judges of people and it's great to Know that Gassan keeps his 'Kate' and 'Willie Thorne' tidy.
This was always important when I lived in Sidcup with my parents that you had to strive to keep up with the 'Nathan's'
“We brought him here so that when we do put balls in and we do play how we can play, he’s one of the best technicians in terms of heading that I’ve ever worked with."
Jones inadvertently pointing out an issue we have with Gassan, as we're not putting balls in (enough of them anyway) and we're not playing the way we could.
I'm not defending Gassan as he's missed some sitters this season, but for the way he feeds off passes and crosses, our midfield hasn't helped him anywhere near enough in league games.

Not easy to feed lots of crosses when you're either playing a box midfield or relying solely on wingbacks. Now if we had some wingers...
Gas is great in the air, has a decent first touch, and good strength to hold up the ball.
He's also got a decent work rate.
He lacks pace, sure. But if he had pace as well...
He wouldn't be playing in League 1!
He has one goal in the league, let's not go over board.
And it was handball (arm ball). None the less I really hope he comes good and he may well if Nathan Jones can coach his team into getting heading opportunities onto his bonce, which we all were told was the plan.
song for Gas.. to Gas Panic by Oasis. simply. you better get on your knees and pray.. Gassan is on his way..
he'll look for a pass from Terry Taylor and his enemies all know his name and when you see him run in your area. you'd better get on your knees and pray.....
Best game yet not pulling up trees by any stretch but one fairs share of headers plus the headers wernt just aimless continuously but directed towards a fellow player. Needs a better service before we totally write him off

Got the assist last night for Kanu's goal with that header down to him

I wouldn't say that he's definitely turned any corners yet (still very much could be a bit of a relative purple patch) but I am beginning to think he might not be as much the problem as some would have it, and more of (another) casualty of the Jones method.
The lump it long shite is not actually helping him at all, he does win more than his share but then has nothing to do once he does and has very little support. The one time he actually had some sort of partnership going, he provided a goal assist.
Hopefully he does settle a bit and he's quite a long way off the top of any list to be moved on/replaced in my books, for now at least.
It just came up on my twitter timeline, but apparently on this day last year, Ahadme scored two goals against us at home to bring Cambridge level in a 2-2 draw after we were 2 up so for 870k, all we have to show for is 1 league goal, an own goal, 3 in the cup and 2 against us last year to deny us 3pts - Brilliant

The number of different transfer fees that have been quoted for Ahadme is amazing!
FWIW I doubt we paid anything like £870k upfront and it’s a much lower fee with significant add ons (which will likely never be realised because he and we are rubbish).
You've now got me looking at the fixture list and which forward we're likely to sign from Mansfield, Northampton, Cambridge, Wycombe or Crawley that signals the end of NJ and who we'll all be despairing about this time next year

Have it on good authority that we actually only paid £35k up front for Ahadme, but £14.6m is payable upon him scoring his second league goal for the club. That's why he's dutifully avoiding putting the club into administration up to this point by not scoring in the league again but is tearing it up in the cup. The club also briefly experimented with him scoring an own goal to see if it reset the goal counter on the payment requirements but the club's contract lawyer had a look and informed the club that that strategy was 'fucking stupid'.

I wish we hired that contract lawyer 18 years ago.
