I hope he uses this moment to kick start his Charlton career, it was a striker's finish and as he said himself he just spun and struck it, having the instinct of where the goal is, is an almost unteachable gift.
I desperately want him to do well for us, to justify us buying him and to shut up a lot of people that have already written him off
Everyone wants him to do well , it’s just he’s looked more pony than not on occasions. We can all have our opinions on if someone will turn out , good , bad or ugly and of course early opinions are more guesswork cos of the limited info theres no oh don’t pass off a negative opinion till someone has played 25 games rule but carry on saying they look the part or no words are allowed to be written , it’s a forum we were all wanking off about Ronnie shchwartz when he scored a strikers finish in an early appearance and well that turned out guff so Gasman could turn in to anything who knows but opinions whether good or bad and eventually right or wrong shouldn’t be seen as a problem . if he’d come on a free from Southend the expectation would be less but with an alleged heavy price tag having sold the leagues top striker that will have added to a higher expectation/level of performance, yes I know Godden is more of the AM type and I like him as a player but that miss yesterday by him was appalling

He's scored a great goal against non- league players. He's been poor, very poor in league one and really disappointing.
We are all hoping he kicks on in league one and not another dud signing after letting one of the league's best strikers go to to promotion rivals.
It's not an enjoyable thing to see players perform below par to win internet points against strangers but at the same time just because someone is a nice bloke or tries doesn't make them immune from valid criticism by those who want him to succeed.
Otherwise the forum is just an grinning stepford wives cultish echo chamber.
There's a reason we've languished in this league for so long and it's because we've seen quality players leave and below par players come in on loop.
Bottom line is if players deliver and play at a level expected of league one footballers they'll get praise. Fail to do so then criticism is valid.
Fans will 'shut up' if he performs as he should do because he will be performing as he should do.
One goal against a non league side doesnt make a summer but it was a brilliant finish and shows what he has in his locker and now hopefully will get his act together and start doing what we've paid him to do in league one.

Do you really believe people don’t want him to do well ? He has been appalling - there’s no dressing it up but if he turns into the second coming of Darren Bent, we will all be delighted .
Love these celebrations on the 4th slide, must be a well liked bloke for the squad to interact with him like that. Come on Gas, justify that price tag and no.9 shirt
Bit like Andy Hunt against Coventry that day - We're very quick and easy to berate performances and whether someone has the talent - But realistically we have no idea what is going on with them.

Seem to recall he was great that day and got his goal as well so not sure anyone was berating him! Mind you, it was a quarter of a century ago… your mind plays tricks

He was barely involved, and looked bereft of fitness hence why he was about to be subbed, and was subbed straight after scoring - Its a game I'll never forget as wondered what on earth was wrong with Hunt myself, for him to be playing that way.
Of course it transpired that he had fatigue syndrome.
Both Ahadme and Hunt have had their hidden reasons for putting in poor performances - But fans dont see that, so instantly think that Footballers are simply shit, dont care etc.

"Who's last act as a professional footballer was to score a goal in a Permier League game?"

I doubt he’s the only person to do this… Chrissy Powell even managed it for us in the Champ

Its all Footballers though... Too many fans act like they're robots, like their large wages can solve any problems and simply make them play to the best of their ability.
When the reality is, none of us have any idea what is going on behind closed doors in their lives - Its none of our business to know.

But yeah X player is just shit in general!!
I mean we can only judge on the information in front of us ffs, are you saying you are never allowed to pass judgement on a footballer in case there is some underlying unknown issue going on we have no idea about, however shit they are playing?
Plus surely this chest issue presumably was only relevant to his last match, not the 7 or 8 prior to that?

Not saying that constructive criticism is a bad thing. Yet equally there needs to be a greater degree of thought that goes into it.
If any of us (me included) have posted on the Bristol Rovers match thread with comments along the lines of "Thank god Ahadme is off, he's looking shit" - Well we look pretty stupid now dont we?

Why do we look stupid now, our most expensive signing this season has so far had a stinker, he has scored one in the correct end and one own goal.
He scored against a National League side yesterday so we could argue he has found his level.
From what I’ve seen so far he is dross and one goal against Southend doesn’t change that.

The parallel I'm drawing is that both have had health issues going on in matches, and we've had no idea what was going on - But we as fans still feel confident to make assumptions on those performances.

But that's never going to happen and I think that should just be accepted. It's a football forum, and at the end of the day, some people will post with a lot of thought and some will just vent and some will be inbetween. This site is a lot better than most, even.
The truth is that it's all the same, it doesn't affect anything. Opinion on this site has frequently not reflected the views of the wider fan base.
Mate he had been shit all season!! Nobody looks stupid cos he was indeed having a shit performance and it was good he went off (but also sorry to hear he’s got a nasty chest infection)
next time I fill in my player marks thread I’ll be sure to caveat anyone I rank less than 7 with a disclaimer that I hope they weren’t feeling under the weather in which case I reserve the right to amend their rating to 9

From what I’ve seen so far he is dross and one goal against Southend doesn’t change that.
I see you just choose to read a portion of what I wrote?
If people said that Ahadme was having a shit performance against Bristol Rovers, then they look stupid because he clearly had something wrong with him, hence the hospital visit.
I am not singling out the Bristol Rovers game, he has been crap in every game, I can’t name a good game
So you're going to ignore the facts as to why he potentially had a shit game against Bristol Rovers then
If he has an excuse for being shit against Bristol Rovers good for him, what’s his excuses for the rest of the games?
I’m hoping he’s coming back at a good time. I think we’d all agree he’s shown nothing really yet this season to be considered a starter ahead of Leaburn but with Leaburn being out at the start of the season he’s had to start every game without great effect.
I think, similarly to Berry, he’ll look a different animal coming on against tired defences to replace Leaburn. We signed him for his physicality and energy and that will be far easier for him to impose on an opponent in the last 20-30 mins of games. Hopefully he can then use that to build his confidence up. There’s no denying that was an excellent finish.

I desperately want him to do well for us, to justify us buying him and to shut up a lot of people that have already written him off
We can all have our opinions on if someone will turn out , good , bad or ugly and of course early opinions are more guesswork cos of the limited info
theres no oh don’t pass off a negative opinion till someone has played 25 games rule but carry on saying they look the part or no words are allowed to be written , it’s a forum
we were all wanking off about Ronnie shchwartz when he scored a strikers finish in an early appearance and well that turned out guff
so Gasman could turn in to anything who knows but opinions whether good or bad and eventually right or wrong shouldn’t be seen as a problem .
if he’d come on a free from Southend the expectation would be less but with an alleged heavy price tag having sold the leagues top striker that will have added to a higher expectation/level of performance, yes I know Godden is more of the AM type and I like him as a player but that miss yesterday by him was appalling
Love these celebrations on the 4th slide, must be a well liked bloke for the squad to interact with him like that. Come on Gas, justify that price tag and no.9 shirt

You genuinely love to see it

Of course it transpired that he had fatigue syndrome.
Both Ahadme and Hunt have had their hidden reasons for putting in poor performances - But fans dont see that, so instantly think that Footballers are simply shit, dont care etc.
"Who's last act as a professional footballer was to score a goal in a Permier League game?"
When the reality is, none of us have any idea what is going on behind closed doors in their lives - Its none of our business to know.
But yeah X player is just shit in general!!
If any of us (me included) have posted on the Bristol Rovers match thread with comments along the lines of "Thank god Ahadme is off, he's looking shit" - Well we look pretty stupid now dont we?

The truth is that it's all the same, it doesn't affect anything. Opinion on this site has frequently not reflected the views of the wider fan base.
next time I fill in my player marks thread I’ll be sure to caveat anyone I rank less than 7 with a disclaimer that I hope they weren’t feeling under the weather in which case I reserve the right to amend their rating to 9
