  • Once again a player who didn't perform at the level above stepping down to see out another year of his career.

Meanwhile our best player is off to opposition.

    So very Charlton.
Anyone could give several examples of old and young signings from above, below and our own league that have worked out or failed.

We shouldn’t completely avoid older players from divisions above ours if they’ve still got plenty to offer. All signings are a gamble, but I trust NJs judgement more than Andy Scott’s.
  • OK. I'll stick to bedwetting on this one, you lot can clap yourself silly.

  • Still not on the OS, even though AM to Brum is confirmed. Weird!
  • Would be surprised to see him announced today

Doing a double announcement with Dobbo 😉

    Didn’t perform you having a giggle …
He scored 6 goals last season. Does that qualify as "performing" to you?

    Believe me, I'm not giggling.
6 goals in 23 starts. His game is more about scoring goals though. But don’t let that affect your judgement eh?
6 in 23 and his game is more about scoring goals
    sounds wank
  • The highlights reel showed that Godden is really good at anticipating an optimal turning position when receiving the ball, and very adeptly ends up facing the goal with the ball at his feet.

Not clapping myself silly at all, not everyone has to give a black or white opinion on each signing.
I wasn't talking specifically about you or I would have quoted you. More that the majority opinion seems to be that this is a smashing signing. I don't agree.

His assists aren't good either. But whatever.

I don't mind him. He doesn't seem to rely on blistering pace, so he should be fit enough to last out games.

  • Seems a good addition … fingers crossed

Scored two goals in 20 minutes against Oxford in January.

Far better indicator of what he’s likely to be able to do rather than what he was able to do against Leeds, Leicester, Ipswich etc.

I don't mind that at all, as long as we also bring someone in who can at least hit double figures.  May going isn't the end of the world, provided we get a lot more goals from the team as a whole.  Last season it was pretty much May or bust when it came to scoring.  We aren't going to get another Alfie May, but we can make sure we have other players who can contribute to the overall goal tally.

Fortunately Godden’s wife is also from Kent so no issues there if he scores 20+ this season
    Unless Gillingham want him
  • 14 goals from 65 games over the last two seasons - not overly excited.
  • Kent - good
but which side of the Medway ????
  • Decent signing and i think he will do alright with us
  • As long as he concentrates on his football as much as his golf….

Plays a lot of squash as well I gather.
