Btw some of the page 1, 2, 3 comments from when he first signed are amusing. I’m definitely putting this signing in the “underwhelming but turned out to be brilliant” category with Yann Kermorgant.
“Brilliant”, behave.
None of our players are brilliant, we are in League One.
He has a long way to go before he gets mentioned in the same way as Yann
So cause we are in league 1, a player isn’t allowed to be brilliant? What a weird theory if so.
It is obvious to absolutely everyone the kid is far too good for us already and deserves to be playing at a much higher level than league 1, so in short, yes he is brilliant

Kermorgant is probably the best player we have had since we got relegated from the Premier League.
Bar the circumstances upon which he left, Taylor was streets ahead of Yann in his prime IMO
Very similar level for me, both excellent in L1 with no doubt they’d be comfortable in the Champ.
Yann proved it by playing regularly and scoring goals in Bournemouth’s title winning team.
Taylor got into double figures with us at that level but didn’t keep it up or build on it at Forest.
Yann was better in the air and great at picking a pass but lacked pace. Taylor had decent pace which arguably made him a more well rounded player, though like I said it was Yann who proved his ability with us and at another club. Taylor might have done in the right team, but for whatever reason it didn’t work out at Forest.
Yann then went on to do a good job for Reading, while Taylor has dropped down the leagues.
In terms of technical ability Yann wins that by some distance. The most technically gifted player we've had outside of the Prem imo.
Of course Taylor had parts to his game that he were better at and he'd likely get more goals across a single season than Yann as well but Yann was the better of the two overall.

Nearly as bad as that bloke who thought Reza at his peak was better than Tony Watt.
I think in reality Macaulay Bonne was probably a better striker than Yann as well - hehe nearly had you there.
If we're talking purely for Charlton though, Taylor got around double the goals Yann scored in their promotion seasons, and then the same in their first seasons with us in the Championship despite Taylor playing significantly less. The LCL injury Lyle picked up in September 2019 completely changed him and he wasn't the same player from then. But, for pace, finishing and all round play Taylor in his prime was the best striker we've had since Premier League relegation IMO.
If I had the option of a fully fit and young Yann or Taylor I wouldn't even have to think about it. I'm surprised anybody would. That doesn't mean Taylor wasn't a key player, our key player even, in our promotion season but come on, let's be real.
Yann has been our best player since the PL, only player who could come close would be JBG imo. He did it at Bournemouth and Reading while Taylor never really got a look in at Forest and is now in L2
Letting Yann go was the stupidest move Charlton have made in the last 50 years. If Roland had built his team around the spine of Hamer, Morrison, Stephens and Yann we would have got to the Premier League

That's not really comparing like for like as players and what they brought to the team as a whole. If we take into account assists too then in their respective first seasons in the Championship with us then Yann had 12 goals and 9 assists from 32 appearances whereas Taylor had 11 goals and 1 assist from 22 appearances. Yann's overall contribution to results was greater.
Both players were late developers. Yann, following his departure from us, scored 66 goals and had 30 assists at that level from 194 appearances in the Championship. Taylor, by comparison, scored 13 and had 2 assists in 75 appearances. So, at the highest level they both played, Yann scored or assisted once every 2 games whereas Taylor did that once every 5 matches.
It's Kermy's all round game and the pressure that he took off his strike partner such as BWP with us and Callum Wilson at Bournemouth that enabled them to thrive. Taylor, to me, was an excellent goal scorer but did not possess the footballing intelligence of Yann. I also believe that Yann worked for the team whereas Taylor worked for the adulation. And I felt that even before his untimely demise with us.
Back to the comparison with Ramsay who is a superb player. There is no comparison with Yann though and the evidence is the reason why forwards, at any level, cost infinitely more than defenders. It's much easier to find a Ramsay than it is a Yann.

Yann is, and likely forever more will be, the shining example of what I pointed out. Ramsay is just the latest example of it.

Yann was also the best player on the pitch when he came back with Reading. Brace and one disallowed from the centre circle wasn't it?
