He's so, so good. He was decent at RWB but he didn't have enough attacking drive which is currently the only thing lacking in his game. At RCB he can show off the rest of his game, which is a hell of a lot. He's incredibly quick so he can dominate speedy attackers and his recovery pace allows him to cover for errors elsewhere. He's also really strong so he can't be bullied. He's strong in the air but also a strong runner, so when he's hurting for passing options he can push past his marker without there being any fear of him being dispossessed in a bad area. He's also an extremely good passer, much better than I expected and while he doesn't play as many long balls as Gillesphey he tends to play cleverer crossfield passes that open things up. If he can just get to a point where he can combine what he has to get better at overlapping Small when he cuts in and start putting the ball across the face of goal he'll be the complete player. Very exciting player for us, probably the player with the highest ceiling I've seen in our team for a long time
His close control is excellent too, he kind of glides through congested zones when most defenders would take a heavy touch and lose the ball
The 1st time I saw Gomez play he glided across the pitch and Kayne does the same. Also Ramsey's in such credit already that the few passes he has messed up and the penalty when the forward got ahead of him, before being fouled* on the chase back is overlooked by the majority.
That's a great position to be in for a footballer at a club and he is class in my opinion as well but he will make mistakes like every pro footballer even in the premier.
We need to enjoy both Small and Ramsey for the rest of this season because in the history of CAFC other than under Murray part 1, up to the tantrum by Parker, we have sold our best younger players.
Sad but true.
*Ironically, the ref made the best decision for CAFC. Ramsey, yellow card and penalty instead of free kick and red card and Kayne misses the Birmingham game.
Reminds me of Joe Gomez. His future is in the premier league. If we don't go up we will struggle to hang on to him in the summer. I'd be thinking about extending his contract now, perhaps with a release fee clause if a Premier League team bids.

I know of one Premier league team that enquired about him in Jan.

How big of a club? Bottom 5? Mid table? Top half?
Not surprised as he has so much to his game. Can see him continuing in the RCB/RB defensive role as it suits him more than being an attacking wing back like Small, despite being so comfortable on the ball and having pace.
He's the classic example of a player who needed to get out there and play games. Good background in the Chelsea academy, and then with Southampton, but without regular football his career never got going.
Btw some of the page 1, 2, 3 comments from when he first signed are amusing. I’m definitely putting this signing in the “underwhelming but turned out to be brilliant” category with Yann Kermorgant.
POTS for me if he keeps this form going. Thank god we have him on a decent length contract as I suspect some very decent bids will be coming our way in the summer

We have our academy RB in Assimwe; we have our L1 bob average RB in Watson so this is our elite RB who would get into every other L1 club and is good enough for the Championship. Exciting signing.

“Brilliant”, behave.
None of our players are brilliant, we are in League One.
He has a long way to go before he gets mentioned in the same way as Yann

Kermorgant is probably the best player we have had since we got relegated from the Premier League.

By this point in 11/12 many knew Yann was brilliant for L1, it didn’t take a full season and promotion to show it. It didn’t surprise me when he went on to be a regular in Bournemouth’s Championship title winning team.
I expect Ramsay to play at a higher level in the next few years, assuming injuries don’t stop that from happening. Hopefully that’ll be with us, but if not I don’t see us keeping him.
If we had more players with his ability we’d be doing better than battling to make the top 6.

Bar the circumstances upon which he left, Taylor was streets ahead of Yann in his prime IMO

Gotta disagree there, Yann was an established Championship Level striker in a league winning team, Taylor's best season was with us when we got relegated and he got 11 goals. No comparison IMO

This is one of the most ridiculous comments I've seen on this forum

Lloyd Jones is streets ahead for POTS.
