Need to go up to have a chance of keeping Ramsay. I'll be honest, I think he's nearly as good as Joe Gomez was for us in terms of skillset, and I'd actually say he's better than Konsa was when we sold him.

Difference is of course they progressed much younger. 25 in October our Kayne.

No player has got the better of him in this league and it's gonna take someone very, very good to do so. I'd love to see how he fairs in the championship. I genuinely think after one season he will have a Premier league offer.

How he ended up at Harrogate is beyond me and shows the talents within league 1, 2 and probably even the National League now.
And the talent that gets released from PL academies - definitely a source of new signings that we’ve never utilised enough. Small being another example.

Well I was thinking today when you look at a lot of our best players and the academies they come from

    Lloydy: Liverpool
    Ramsay: Chelsea
    Small: Everton
    Gillesphey: Newcastle
    Coventry: West Ham

Doesn't always correlate but it's definitely something we should do more.

Pity Chelsea didn't insert a £75m buy back obligation clause.

The likes of Jones and Gillesphey have been around the block between before joining us though, Jones in particular has taken several years to reach his current level.

But they have still at some stage been identified by top level clubs. Which suggests they've had something.

It's a tricky one. For every player who gets released as a kid and goes on to work their way back up, there's dozens who are released and then... do nothing much. Particularly when the bigger academies hoover up so many players that some who might have made it at a lower level never get a chance.

The fact that he chose to go to Harrogate for me says even more about him. He chose to drop down to League 2 because he believed that first team football was the priority for him. As such his stock is now rising all the time.

As a comparison, (although I don’t begrudge him the move at all because we all would have gone given the state of the club and the salary increase) Mason Burstow’s stock is only continuing to fall because he chose not to play first team football.

To make it clear I love the way Kayne glides over the field which does remind me of our Joe Gomez as a teenager at Charlton and I agree he looks more mature than the young Konsa. Superb scouting by someone at CAFC to get the east end boy back to south London from the football hot bed of Harrogate.

But even on Thursday night Ramsey did make mistakes with his passing 1st half but because he's in credit it gets over looked as you know he will do something good to make up for it and the double block was the catalyst that meant we didn't lose.

I'm hoping at 25 he will stay at CAFC, especially if we get promoted.

Definitely a Championship standard player but massive jump to Premier and the quality forwards that are around with pace and skill to try to subdue.

Gomez was a Rolls Royce in a division above at 18.  Ramsay is an excellent defender - uses his pace and strength to get him out of trouble and is good going forward .  I agree he’s more influential that Konsa was for us but as superb as he’s been, I don’t think at 25, his ceiling is as high as theirs .  Evidently Gomez has suffered with so many injuries and hasn’t quite fulfilled the promise .

I still have high hopes for Zach Mitchell, hopefully he plays the full game on Tuesday.

Yeah we'll have a year left on his original Contract come the end of the season, its crazy that he's not at least had an extension with a wage rise on that original 2024 deal.

But if he leaves next summer, I won't begrudge him in the slightest.

One of my favourite players in the modern era... Both of our Full-Backs for that matter.
  • His heart rate genuinely doesn’t go much higher than 80bpm does it? Cool as ice. When you want to know who can play at a higher level look for the player who seems to have so much more time than anyone else on the pitch, Ramsay is that player.

I think Ramsey prioritises defence when he has abilities all over the pitch. This is great for us as he is a fantastic defender. It worries me that other clubs are going to notice this sooner rather than later. It is hard on Gillesphey as he has rightly become an absolute Charlton hero but is it possible we have the best back three in the division? Considering his age, where has Jones found the extra element to his game from? And as for Bell. Get rid, get rid I shout. No he doesn't, he has too much class for that. He has as much time as he needs with his obvious quality.
  • Excellent player who reads the game well. Love watching him play.

With a sale comes a decent fee as he’ll still have a year left.
I’d imagine contract talks will start pretty soon so that he doesn’t enter that period of his contract
