Aamer Jamal, is on 31* (59) but appears to be struggling with a hip injury. If that prevents him from bowling then Pakistan will have an all spin attack.
Might see Shan Masood's little dobblers!
  • First ball after lunch, Carse demolishes Jamal's stumps with one that nips back

Can I add, Alex Hartley is maybe the worst cricket commentator of all time. I say this as someone who's usually in favour of there being more women commentators (Urooj Mumtaz in the Test earlier being excellent for example)
Oh that's Lydia Greenway lmao. I was thinking she didn't sound quite right. She's also bad

You were right to question yourself - one's a Lancastrian and the other's from, down the road, Orpington!
Fine. When I spotted some semi-articulate magnanimity towards the WI, I realised it couldn't be Hartley actually

Alex Hartley can be quite flippant when doing live commentary but when being serious she hasn't held back with her criticism of the English women players for their fitness and despite beating the Windies 14 times in a row before yesterday they panic when Sophie Ecclestone isn't on her top spinning game or in crunch games against the Aussies who she says have a higher level of fitness.

Back to the men's game and Brydon Carse deserved that wicket.

  • It was a good ball but idk why the commentators seemed hellbent on calling it reverse swing when it clearly went off the pitch ;)
  • This should be a situation where Stokes brings himself on. He's only bowled 5 overs in a day and a half and is different to the predictability that has been served up to these tail enders.

Unless you bring Leach on and Noman Ali opts to put one down the throat of long on

    366 (123.3) all out
  • Chance for Duckett to completely dominate here
  • The great escape for Crawley!
  • Shocking cricket all round. Mix up between Duckett and Crawley with the latter out of his ground by a country mile. Bowler, Sajid, dislodges the bails before receiving the bails so Crawley is reprieved.
  • The fielder had time to take the stump out there I think so a double error

He has to be one of the best sweepers and cutters of the ball in the world.

Whereas Crawley isn't but then he has the issue of being a lot taller. He tries a reverse sweep, misses the ball and is given out but the it is shown to be missing on review

    54 in 8 overs.

Duckett and Crawley are averaging 45 for the first wicket since they first came together.

After being in the wilderness for so long after the drinks were on Jimmy Anderson, and losing his way after early promise, Ben Duckett has really gained from having Stokes and McCullum in charge

Another great escape for Crawley after Ben Duckett is as sharp as a razor today in calling him back.

That's the long and the short of it.

  • Good work by Duckett to get Crawley to review that.

Poor decision there, was clearly sliding down. I think Crawley’s height makes him look weird when he’s down low sweeping which can confuse the umpire a bit

Crawley out after his 3rd life let's him down.

    73/1 and another good start.
  • Crawley hasn't looked anywhere near as confident against Pakistan's spin and is eventually out, caught behind following another wrong decision being reviewed, for 27 (36)

The all spin attack definitely suited Duckett more than Crawley.
  • Expect Pope will be pretty jittery here, needs a decent score

  • 50* (47) for Duckett
  • Better than a run a ball 50 for Duckett
  • Duckett with his 15th 50 in Test cricket in his 28th test and with an average a tad under 42 isn't too shabby.
I don't think Ben will score that many Tons because of his unique way of playing nearly every ball but gives England so much momentum at the top order.

And to think that, prior to playing for England, he wasn't a red ball opener
  • 88-1 (17) at tea
  • Absolutely 0 pressure being applied by the bowlers. They can’t seem to bowl 2/3 good deliveries in a row
  • Is it starting to look like a Day 7 pitch? A bit nervous about having to bat on this track on Day 10.

no way this test gets to day 5. England will have a decent lead by this time tomorrow I think. Pakistan’s batters on this pitch on day 4(9) will struggle
  • Pope's at 25, will get get out before 30 or get a ton? nothing in between with him

That one's your Canters!!! Pope bowled by Sajid for 29 (37)

    125-1
