  • Curran competing with Woakes for the bowling honours
  • We'll always have a chance with our batting lineup, especially when Stokes returns, but our bowling is going to cause us major problems against the better sides.
  • Have Curran and Woakes got somewhere else to be next weekend?
  • 50 (61) for Ikram
  • Excellent 58 from Ikram (66) ends when he finds Curran at long on, off the bowling of Topley

    277-8 off 48
  • 1 brings 2 etc etc
  • Mujeeb (28 off 16) falls next ball to a fourth catch from Root, this time off the bowling of Wood
  • Last wicket is that of Naveen (5 off 6) who is run out by Buttler

284-9 off 49.5. Afghanistan's second highest ever total in any World Cup

    Seamers  26-1-189-4
    Spinners  24-1-94-5

Does that make an argument for Moeen and Willey/Atkinson for Curran and Woakes against SA?
  • Criminal not seeing out your overs
  • Another wasted Bairstow review.

  • Honestly thought that was a ropey decision. Even with DRS that looked like it was doing far too much and double umpires call just makes it worse.
  • Another wasted Bairstow review.
    It wasn't wasted...

It wasn't lost, but he's out.

It wasn't lost, but he's out.
    So the review wasn't wasted?
  • No good looking at the pitch Root - that’s what happens if you play back to a full length delivery
  • The win predictor on sky, I assume they are using the host feed has England at 63% while ESPN have England at 34%.
  • No good looking at the pitch Root - that’s what happens if you play back to a full length delivery
And if he truly believes that it's the pitch then he should be banging Buttler's head against the wall for batting second because the Afghanistan early batsmen had no trouble whatsoever - they didn't lose a wicket until a third of their innings had been used up with the score on 114 off 16.4
  • Malan out for 32 (39)

At 68-3 off 12.4 and with Rashid Khan still to bowl we are in a bit of trouble here
  • How's that win toss bowl going?
Absolutely fuming at the wilful stupidity of it.
  • 72-3 off 15

  • And now Buttler is cleaned up for 9 (18)

    91-4 off 17.2
  • are we out if we lose?
  • are we out if we lose?
No, but virtually in "win every game" territory
  • are we out if we lose?
    No.

    117-5 Livingstone out.

are we out if we lose?
No but we’ll need to win five of our last six games (RSA, SL, AUS, IND, NED, PAK) to have a decent chance.
  • We've lost this one.

  • Pathetic effort this. What were we thinking at the toss?

Also, that's a proper desperate review.
  • Livingstone decides that the best course of action is to play across a straight one from Rashid Khan. To compound the team's misery he wastes a review too. Never let brains get in the way.

    117-5 off 20.4

  • We've lost this one.

Definitely . Curran and Woakes don't have the capability to put on any kind of partnership.

    This.

Wd have a ream full of hitters, not blockers. Against the lesser sides we should be batting first & seeing what score we can get. Not chasing a score; our middle order  trying to judge or nurdle to 280.
