Worth an appearance weighted new contract, if he'd accept one.
I’m sure this is said in jest, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we get a few on here talking this way come the end of the season.
What’s that phrase cabbs, “He will make a good squad player”
  • I like Chuks and he does make an impact when he comes on. But - you can’t have a player in your squad that can barely manage 45 minutes. He should probably retire and/or we should ditch him in the summer.

Aneke coming back, I'll maintain as the worst signing in my lifetime back to '76.
No ill feeling to the guy, only the clowns agreeing to bringing him back.
Don’t think your £50 with William Hill from two weeks ago is looking great though…
  • A season or so ago everytime chuks come on he was a beast and manhandled and forced goals and assists

he literally scared the life out of almost every defence
but this season he seems to have lost that aswell as a yard of pace and its hard to watch

I like him but you can see and feel that his time is nearly over with us
  • Don’t get the hype Get rid unreliable big earner like far too many over the years taking a wage from the our club not earnt. In any other other job if your not fit for purpose your shown the door he’s a lucky man
I would not say he is taking a wage from the club not earnt .  We knew what he was like when we offered him his contract. No one forced us to give a player who we knew constantly breaks down and misses significant parts of the season a contract. There are plenty of players we have had here who have joined and been accused of "stealing a living" Chuks isnt one of those, we handed him one and he was happy to accept our gift.

I'm not worried about £50 Cal.

Has contributed more than Ahadme this season and cost less
    All about opinions.
I am saying signing Aneke should not have happened.

I see our forwards competing for different spot in the Squad:

    Leaburn vs Ahadme
    Kanu vs Dixion
    Hylton vs Aneke.

(At a stretch Godden vs T. Campbell)

Think it is unfair to compare Chuks and Ahadme (since they have different squad uses).

The question would be Hylton or Aneke, who is going to forfill the player/coach role next season. Since Hylton signing is sort of like Connor Wickham siging last season (though if he would to come back he could probably forfill that role, Chuks goes and Hylton becomes a FT coach).

That says more about the shocking decision to sign Ahadme rather than Chuks
  • Next season there will need to be some change to our front players, who, without Leaburn look pretty ineffective imo. It's a huge worry if we go into the season with a front 4 of Ahadme, Kanu, Godden and Campbell.

    - Leaburn will be sold.
    - Ahadme should be sold (but sadly I think will become the Aneke "wage millstone" replacement for 4yrs)
    - Kanu, Casey and Mbick should likely go on loan
    - Dixon possibly go on loan
    - Hylton should be released now
    - Aneke should be released
    - Godden to stay as an impact sub
    - T. Campbell to stay

I think the impact has very significantly diminished over the past 12 months or so. We still get excited when he comes on, but those paying attention will realise that excitement is unfortunately just a form of nostalgia at this point.

I’m not saying he’ll ever do anything good ever again, he had a couple of moments when he came on yesterday which were ok. People who are still in the “when he’s actually on the pitch he’s our best player” frame of mind are behind the curve however.

Think we have had worse transfers then Aneke.2 (in my life time) never mind back to 76. Hasselbaink being a prime example- Chuks gives commitment at least.

I’m not sure it’s really possible to objectively measure our worst signing, but unquestionably we’ve had more bad than good over the past couple of decades!

Only 46 minutes in it now
  • The way I see it he's our only target man with a particularly good first touch and any real ability to hold up the ball. That's nothing against Leaburn, as he's our main goal threat, but the ball doesn't 'stick' with our other players like it does with Chuks, and he's great at bringing people into play after he's taken it down.

Might be the Charlton hill that I die on, but IMO he's one of our best players so I don't see why anyone would want to be rid of him as an option if the wage isn't coming out of your own pocket. As long as we don't rely on his fitness and have other first-team strikers available he adds a lot when he's on the pitch.
I agree but the argument is that his wages would be better spent elsewhere, which they obviously would be. So we will be saying goodbye to Aneke in May, but hopefully get some good use out of him until then

We bought Aneke knowing he had a history of injuries, we bought lard a*** not knowing he was a lazy c***.

Yeah, my worry is that when we have money we spend it on the likes of Ahadme. Sometimes better the devil you know...

Also, could be wrong, but at 31 y.o. with his injury record I can't imagine we'll be facing huge pressure to offer anything more than a middling League 1 wage to Aneke to be able to keep him.

Completely bullied their defence tonight, more like the Chuks of last season. Him getting in the ear of the Bolton player who'd tried having it on with Small was just the type of needle we need
strange how few opponents try to kick him up in the air, niggle him with little nudges or stamp on the back of his calves- or perhaps its just self preservation.
