  • Chucks role now must be to toughen up leaburn and gas in training and teach them how to scare and bully defenders
Thought that was why Nathan made Hylton a Player/Coach (to teach the forwards how to sh** house)
Hylton is good at shit house, chicks is good at bullying defenders. Has and leaburn need to do that more
I bet Wycombe's defenders are terrified.
  • to be a big man like chucks and only feel a minor thing in your groin is obviously gonna be a worry

If his contract was paid up this would not give us money to spend!
    Not if paid in full.

  • Spoke to him in the car park after todays game , he’s available Wednesday but doesn’t expect for the squad to be changed much while we keep on getting the results .
Available Wednesday but not today ;)

There's a Spinal Tap 'the amp goes to 11' vibe to these discussions about paying off Chuks.

If he’s fit then not having him on the bench is just silly
    Why?

He WAS a better player. Now, who knows?!

One league goal this season, the same as Hylton and Ahadme.  He’s approaching the end of a miserable 3 and a half years, and I for one are glad to see he hasn’t just walked back into the team/bench.

We’ve got players like Terry Taylor and Dixon who may not be up to scratch, but are probably working just as hard and who may have more of a future here.  Too many managers have, over the last few years, fallen into this trap of relying on him when he’s returned, and those returns have diminished each time he’s come back during that period

He’s been less effective with each injury, the only thing he does of any consistency anymore is break down, and it’s quite refreshing not to see him just get his 20 minute cameo like it’s for granted.
Get your frustrated with him but you'd rather Hylton on the bench? Come on.
It’s more that why should he just walk back in.  I used Hylton and Ahadme on the basis they’ve scored the same amount of league goals as our cheat code, and Hylton has done it in less appearances to highlight it’s pretty drastic we just assume he’s “fit” let’s just get him back on the bench.

You’re right in that I’m frustrated, but I genuinely don’t see what having him straight back in that squad will do, based on those diminishing returns.  For want of a better analogy, it’s like somehow, we’ve convinced ourselves this guy was like some 11/10 we pulled in a bar once, but forgotten all the alcohol we consumed and the morning after.  I still cannot get my head around it, even less so now with a couple of months of his contract left to run, and his last 12 months in a Charlton shirt

I agree he hasn't offered as much as he used to but I still think he's a better option than Ahadme and Hylton. May as well get some use out of him before he goes.
Totally agree. Ahadme has nowhere near the quality of chuks and hylton is just there as an injury time bully when we’re winning. If chuks is match fit, get him in the squad. May only be another handful of games anyway.
  • My guess is a brief cameo against Wycombe and a post match farewell to the fans.
What would be the benefit in paying up his contract six months early?
We'd save 6 months wages so be able to spend it on other players 😉😉😉😉
Classic Charlton Life theorem right there and the fella , forgotten who it was, was adamant about it 😂
talalsrightfoot. Refused to accept he was wrong even when it was explained to him and got so narky about his idiocy being pointed out he asked for his account to be closed

Nearly everytime Aneke comes off the bench we improve as a team. Nearly everytime Hylton or Ahadme come off the bench we get worse
    Hylton P6, G1, A1.
    Aneke P9, G1, A2

    Ahadme P18, G1, A1.

Disagree with we get worse with Hylton, certainly true Ahadme is always a downgrade.

Again, just looking at goals and assists is way too simplistic. Aneke is better in the air, better at holding the ball up and linking play than both of the others

Not when he's injured and unavailable he's not. Which is most of the time now.

I can say with a very high degree of confidence that he is better than Ahadme who I have down as non league standard and have seen no quality from whatsoever all season.
