Diawara was good, however he had Djimi "I've got a champions league medal" Traore and Amdy Faye playing next to, and infront of him.
There's 20 centre backs alone we could list that are worse than him
Indeed. We only kept 11 clean sheets that season and Diawara started in 7 of those when, typically, the back four was Young, Diawara, Karkouri and Hreidarsson. It was when we couldn't play them as a unit that we tended to leak goals in abundance.
Are any of those in the Ex Players Association? Just wondering 🤔
Thought I read Young had joined somewhere.
He was at the launch (but not with the 06/07 crowd). They did that picture remember
Karkouri last managed in Qatar (out of work since 2023), Hreidarsson managing in Iceland, Looks like Diawara is doing ambassador and hosting work.
Only thing I can find on Amdy Faye was an article wondering who the hell he is and Djime well: he was tracked down by those Redmen Tv folk (for their Talking Istabul doc), Head coach AS Monaco B team (Elite group), and playing the fight aids cup.
I messaged my mate about the worst transfer since 76 comment and we’ve come up with a list of players that we deem worse signings than Chuks. Huge apologies in advance but it’s astounding how much guff we’ve signed in the last 20 years let alone 50. Please absolutely nobody quote this post.

I’m really not sure about including Josh Parker on that list. He did a lot of water carrying so the snake could score a ton of goals. Maybe in terms of individual capability Chuks is better, but in terms of overall contribution to the team I wouldn’t say Parker deserves to be on the list. Parker also will have cost a fraction of what Chuks has and contributed to a much greater return.
I've been going to Charlton since the late 80s and i have no recollection of who these guys are:
Florent Rouamba
Jordan Cook
Kevin Feely
But for me any list of our worst players can only really have players that have featured over the last 10 years or so. Yes we had some bad signings and underperforming players in the Premier league era, but they were still miles better players than some of the donkeys we've had under Duchatalet and in league one.
Jeffers for example was an awful signing for the money spent in relation to his goal return, but having him on a list with players like Mike Small and Ahadme is silly.
If Leaburn learnt the "dark arts" off Chuks, than just about every defence in our division would crap themselves when faced with them two playing together.
I'm sure there's someone much closer to home that could educate him with regards to putting himself about, hold up play etc. In fact, if he had his dad's ability to do that to add to his own game he would be the complete the centre forward.
Won us the game on Tuesday IMO. Their defenders stood off him as they knew they couldn't compete physically and they went from being comfortable to being panicked. Even if you don't get too many minutes out of him, he gives a lot of value for those minutes you do.

I'm guessing it's Kevin Foley. Funnily enough if I've recalled the right bloke he was ex Luton, as per our current model.

We had both. Kevin Feely was a young Irish CB we had in the RD years, coincidentally born in Belgium. He quit football and now plays Gaelic football.

How depressing is that. We've all wasted a good chunk of our lives watching these losers over the years. Chuks is miles ahead of this bunch.
Chuks could have been one of the best had it not been for his fitness issues.
Chuks is probably the most naturally talented player in the squad (or at the very least in the top 3) BUT he's not fit enough often enough to turn that into being the best actual player.
That said, the weekend did prove that even a 80-90% effective Chuks is still incredibly useful to have as an option off the bench.
Amdy Faye is THE worst player ever to play for us and look what he cost us - £2 Mil . Comparing him to Chuks is ridiculous . I know Chucks has massive injury problems but at least when he he does get a game he put's everything into it. When Amdy Faye played we might as well have had ten men on the pitch. I've never seen a player hide from the ball as he did. He stole a living

I do remember Faye as being awful but ffs if he was worse than CHRISTOPHE LEPOINT then my memory must be worse than I thought…

We actually kept 7 clean sheets in the Premiership in 2006/7 out of the 18 games he started.
