Charlton TV is only guaranteed until the end of August , but Scott is obviously hoping that the new owners will continue with it. He can see that player recruitment is the number one priority and that decisions on other matters must wait their turn.
I don't suppose anyone asked (or already knows) what the annual cost of it is?
I'd want to suggest to the new guys that they give it the season and look at how they can make the most of it financially. If they axe it, and then the Saturday blackout thing falls apart in a season or two, as I expect, they may kick themselves, especially as Scott may have moved on to something else and couldn't return.
The uncertainty around the future of Charlton TV was the reason I held back from doing an annual renewal. Will be paying for it on a month by month basis. I suspect we will end up with the version we saw for the pre-season friendlies. IE no pre or post match chat, the stream going live 5/10 mins before kick off and commentary from Terry And Greg. TBH if it means I don't have to listen to Steve Brown droning on I am ok with that......

I wouldn't. More often than not, having Scotty, Curbs and others made it worth watching, despite the shite that was served up in between their stuff.

Also Sky deal kicks in the following season, where they have brought the rights to every game in EFL. What happens then? Not known/discussed.Sky plans??? Seems pretty likely CAFC TV will cease if it gets that far atm.
As far as I’m concerned, Charlton TV has been the best part of supporting Charlton in the last 3 years. I love watching all the away games and Scott, Curbs, Brownie, Terry, Greg and all the guests are excellent. I really hope it stays. Far better as a fan than watching Sky or BT.
I think a happy medium of £15 a match would be ok. It's still a lot of money so generates income, lots see it as cheaper than a match ticket so will still appeal to them, but might sway those that are on the fence to actually attend if the price point isn't too different.
Then having a season pass style payment that works out a bit cheaper can be priced at around the same as a season ticket, so 12.50 a game (287.50) which works out just £2.50 more than the cheapest price season ticket
I am one of those that no longer goes to matches. Mainly because of the convenience and the quality of Charlton TV but also because I intend to be out of the country quite a lot. I certainly don’t have a problem if they increase the cost of the tv packaged even if it’s equivalent to a match ticket.

Unless there’s a similar international deal on the table, I can’t see that being a reason to take away Charlton TV as a whole. The service was originally designed to be for fans from abroad and the new Sky deal wouldn’t change the need for that.

He's a class act all round.
Amazingly, someone there did actually think to ask that question.
He didn't know the costs or what the profit or loss figures are but accepted that it is difficult to attract new viewers when we are playing in league 1.
SM did suggest that sponsorship might be a solution although he didn't say if that has or hasn't been taken any further.

AnnuL cost £65.
We're talking about the cost/loss to the club of providing Charlton TV.

Hmm, I think Sales and Marketing people may say- its more convenient on-line, fans save travelling expenses, club loses sales beer, consumables , programmes etc so price would have to be a premium over seat tickets attending the Valley. That's the way they think. Otherwise the crowds will decline.
For people unable to attend games this is a fantastic service, however, a drawback is that fans who are able to attend can easily be drawn into sitting in their armchair and watching games.
I do feel that this service probably reduces attendance figures.
I know its good for certain fans (particularly those abroad) but I can't help feel Charlton TV means people are less likely to go to the home/away games, which is a big shame. I would probably get rid of it, we should be doing everything to get enough people to come to the Valley.

Yes, often you end up with Scotty breaking up a really interesting conversation with Curbs, Brownie and the guest, to watch a turgid half of football.
The big PL clubs sustain TV channels just on the features and interviews, is that feasible for smaller clubs?

And what about those who can’t get to games and are based in the UK?
Disability, distance, family issues can all mean an inability to attend physically. Should those fans not have the opportunity to see the game online?

When the laws change in this country on who’s allowed to view these games (3pm on Saturday’s) No idea what the fines would be if the club broke those laws.
The VPN’s seem to be a way around that looking at peoples comments on here over the last couple of seasons.
Somebody like Scott who appears to have a lot of affection for Charlton, it must pain him to see how we have been run recently compared to when he was with us.
I heard our own Charlotte Richardson on the national wireless this evening reporting and commenting on the China England game earlier. Good for her, she was fine.

I second this. I moved away from south London years ago and for many years only had the chance to watch when we were occasionally on TV. I haven’t missed a single stream in 4 years apart from my very costly and seldom trip to the valley and away games up north. Got our Orient tickets and can’t wait for Saturday but when I can’t go I would really miss Charlton TV I would happily pay the normal season ticket price to keep it
