  • Hotel, train and match tickets booked. A new ground for me, plus an old friend of mine lives locally and will be our beer and pub guide for the day. Looking forward to it.
  • Almost 250,000 people attended this season’s Carabao Cup opening round fixtures, the highest number this century since the new format of the competition was introduced in 2001/02.

Round One’s cumulative attendance has increased by 45% compared to last season’s and is 39% higher than the average opening round attendance over the last 20 years.

Sky Bet League Two side Salford City welcome Leeds United to the Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday 29 August (20:00), with the tie due to be shown live on Sky Sports.

The following night, on Wednesday 30 August (20:00), Sky Sports will show Doncaster Rovers' clash with Premier League Everton, as the League Two Club welcome Sean Dyche's side to the Eco-Power Stadium.

  • Guess they would have picked Chelsea vs Wimbledon had it been the other way around.
  • Sky still infatuated with Leeds.

    ...and Salford !
  • Few ex-players involved tonight, Phillips having a mare in goal for Rotherham at Stoke, Doughty scoring a screamer for Luton, Rak-Sakyi impressive for the Stripey Nonces against Plymouth (but losing, the perfect storm)

Gary Neville on commentary duty for Salford tonight v Leeds tonight

Something doesn't sit right with me about that

    He part owns the club
He used to play for man utd who have a rivalry with Leeds

And Leeds fans watching have to listen to him talking about Salford all night, the way he cheered the Salford goal, if you want to be a fan be in the stadium as a fan/owner, but if your working but neutral
  • Yay for taking the league cup seriously for a change...

    Oh wait...

9 changes?  Sanchez taking a pen? Jeez.

I'm baffled by Spurs' attitude to the EFL cup. They're not in Europe, this is exactly the sort of competition they should be targeting, as they desperately need some silverware.

  • Good interview by Josh Windass after losing to Mansfield via penalties

Also they've only been playing one game a week so far and we're still in August so it's not like their main guys needed a rest. Very bizarre approach from Postecoglou.
  • Gallagher, Maatsen & Burstow starting for Chelsea v AFC Wimbledon tonight.
  • Everton losing to bottom of the EFL Doncaster Rovers.

    Goal was offside too. Perfect.

Pell and Davison started for Wimbledon too
  • Just the 8 goals for Blackburn at Harrogate tonight
  • Chelsea scrape past Wimbledon. 37,794 there, so a decent money spinner for the Wombles.

Fervently wishing they go down this season, would love nothing more than to see the blue bin dippers rock up to a shiny expensive stadium for the first game of the season at home to some no mark team like QPR or Millwall
  • Palace out again after their draw 👍
  • Just the 8 goals for Blackburn at Harrogate tonight

  • Blackburn's results in this comp so far this season:

    4-3 W

    5-2 W

    22 goals across 3 games. 17 for, 5 against.

    Port Vale?

I would have some fun at work!!
  • Man Utd drawn at home for the 12th consecutive time in a domestic cup match.

  • Thank you. The only Manu home cup tie not to be shown live must have been the game with us last season.
  • Ten Hag has to be in trouble. Shambles.
Newcastle made plenty of changes too.

Problems are way bigger than him but he's still in trouble- as you say, Newcastle rested a lot more players than Man U.
  • Pretty crazy how manager after manager comes in at United and spends about £300m only to make them even worse.
