Another poor performance. When I saw Henry getting a start I was happy as Fraser has been running through treacle lately. How wrong could I have been? I'd have subbed Henry at half time in all honesty. This was a Fraser type game and he showed it too so that's down to the manager.
Leaburn and Jes, well out of sorts as was Sessegnon. Kanu looked lively but probably needs to bulk up a bit.
Positives? Only two more games to endure and I can get a proper nights sleep on Saturdays/Sunday again.
Rak Sakyi's goal saved the players from being booed off at half time. But I must admit I was expecting the crowd to turn hostile when we went 3-1 down. I was surprised how subdued the atmosphere was and I couldn't work out whether it was because it was a meaningless (to us) end of season game or whether we have become so conditioned to being let down that all the passion has drained out of us. Screw the game we were shit, but I found the air of resignation and demoralisation quite worrying.
Try not giving a shit, like the people you referred to. Works wonders on the worry factor.
All of them gone next year , fkin awful AMB is an ordinary keeper imo and as with 99% of anyone that comes out of our academy is overhyped and plays a lot and is one of many reasons why our continued flirting with third tier midtable wankness continues . Give me ten decent mercenaries who can get us out of this shithouse rather than ooooh he’s a Charlton player , he gets us , fuck off , load of cliche shit . I fear next year it could get worse when the only player guaranteed to have a career in the championship or above goes back to his cnuting club . my hatred of this lot knows no bounds The worst footballing period ever coinciding with our neighbours best . gutless cnuts , fcuk em all off ordinary will be renewing our six season tickets shortly 🥴

It's worse than drug addiction isn't it. A type of self abuse 🤯

After we scored our second my son and I remained seated - possibly for the first time in living memory. (This was us turning hostile )
I guess we shared that mutual gut feeling that it wouldn't be enough - it would be a consolation goal only.
Gut feelings are not always right, but they are in the vast majority of cases.
I forgot we were playing at home yesterday, only found out because I had an appointment at kwikfit to deal with a tyre issue on the car. While they were looking at ripping off the lease co, I popped down the road to the anchor & hope for a quick pint and they were clearing up after the crowd had left to go to the valley.
Even then, I wasn't tempted to go back to the house, pick up the season ticket and the decorator and expose him to Charlton (he's a Rasta spurs fan, lives closer to arsenal).can't get tickets for Spurs. Definitely a convert to Charlton in the making, apart from the fact that we are so unreliable 6-0 win and then a 6-0 loss on the road did not fill me with confidence, and so we didn't go....
The other thing about just needing a few decent players argument, is that we are losing Rak Saki who be extremely difficult to replace. As it stands, his replacement is CBT or Campbell, if we play a similar style next season. Campbell may go on to be okay, but we’ve had CBT for almost 2 years now, and we know neither him nor Campbell are anywhere as good as Rak Saki.
The truth is, that we don’t know if AMB, Ness and other youngsters have got what it takes, so as promising as some of them have started, we can’t know or have the confidence they perform part of a promotion team. After that you have that layer of who I don’t consider good enough like Fraser and Payne for example, then after that the out of contracts like Morgan, Clare, Inniss and so on. You can only assume the ones that got shipped out on loan and who are still under contract, did so because they weren’t wanted. I’m not sure how when you take all that into account, we just need 5 or 6 good players, and we’ll be competing
Yesterday just about summes this season up. As a squad we are absolutely miles away from challenging for promotion. 34 points behind Plymouth ffs. We only have about 4 or 5 players that are good enough and one of them is on loan from Palace and won't be here next season. I have been supporting this club since 1966 and been a season ticket holder since our return to the Valley in 92. But unless there is a takeover and a complete overhaul this summer I won't be buying one for next season. I shall just watch the odd home game and choose 6 or 7 always. Totally depressing.
Henry had a rough time yesterday, but so did some far more experienced players. Just a reminder that he’s 19 and has had two League starts in his career. It might be a bit premature to decide he has no future?
Generally yesterday’s performance was an unprofessional disgrace and Dean Holden has to take some responsibility alongside the players.
You learn in meaningless games who the players are that will give you a 7 or 8 out of 10 performance week in, week out. Sadly, I don’t think we have any of them.
We do but sadly our best player is a palace player that wont be here next season.
Before our premiership run we use to watch us in the lower divisions & had our fair share of bad runs but at least we use to give it our best shot which still hurt but made it watchable But watching us over the last few seasons It's a totally different ball game it feels like some of these players don't give a monkeys
It's knocking the enjoyment & passion out of us no wonder our gates are down I have renewed my ST am I looking forward to next season as it stands now no something needs to change big time as another season like the last few will definitely be my last never ever thought I would feel like this & not want to go

I would agree with that, but how well he plays may be a factor in the size and length of his next contract. Are there many other clubs sniffing around? But too early to write him off.
Good points: Tyreece improved us.Henry can place a ball, Fraser is better than Henry. Bad points; passing was terrible, Henry is not ready just yet. shooting was terrible.. Albie Morgan is all fluff and bluster. Leaburn is not as good as we think. We have no talisman. Salute all the academy players including Henry but they are not ready, and we need some experienced players of quality.
Anyone would think we'd just been relegated the way you people are snivelling on here. People 'hating' the team because they lost a game of no consequence.
Boohoo, we lost, I'm not renewing my season ticket, sell all the players and get good ones, I hate Charlton, I hate the players, IT'S NOT FAIR.
The Valley was soulless on and off the pitch yesterday. Morecambe won the toss and turned us round from our usual preference of attacking the covered end second half but I really don't think it would have made a blind bit of difference.
Quickly behind to a clinical opportunistic effort from Stockton after a poor Henry we touch, we were wasteful and pedestrian in possession for much of the half until an undeserved equaliser from Rak-Sak and crack just before half time. Thereafter, for the first time we actually looked in control of the ball for the remaining minutes of the half. So having been waiting so long for that whistle for a much needed release from the dross I had witnessed, I actually ended up thinking that half time came at a bad time for us.
But second half we came out with continued momentum until Morecambe scored with their first venture of note into our half. That really knocked what little stuffing we had out of us and Morecambe were able to add a simple 3rd. 3 subs of Campbell, Kanu and Fraser livened us up a tad with the latter reducing the arrears, but aside from a couple of goal mouth scrambles at 3-2 we never really recovered and the shrimps ran out worthy winners.
The stat by an earlier poster around our inability to turn losing positions into winning ones says it all about this latest bunch of gutless wonders wearing our proud badge with such dishonour. I was just glad that Bonne was nowhere near it as it shows that Holden is at least trying to stay true to his no dickheads policy. I suspect it could be quite a clear out in the summer if he gets his way.
I have no problem with playing the ball around the back , but it has to be done quickly. If you move the ball quickly the oppo are always having to move around to cover both flanks which then creates hole for you to play through. . We move it so slowly they can virtually walk into their defensive formation.

Yeh, let's start bellyaching about other posters instead.

Garner said Henry is refusing to sign a new contract because he wants to play, but if he starts and plays like that, maybe he needs to wake up to the reality that he's not ready.
As I sat there at The Valley yesterday my mind started to wander. So much so, that I was beginning feel that I knew exactly what a match day experience must be like for Michael Hector. I found myself thinking about a rather cruel psychological experiment where chickens were fitted with eyeglasses containing prism shaped lenses. These lenses bent the light coming into the chickens' eyes so that everything looked like it was off to one side. The poor hens could not eat because whenever they pecked for their food, they pecked in the wrong place. They never adapted and their weight loss was used as a measure of this horrible experiment's success. In follow up experiments it was found that when fitted with similar lenses, human subjects would slowly adapt until their ability to locate objects was fully restored. The rub, however, was that when the lenses were removed the humans took time for their original vision to be restored. As I sat there watching pass after pass going to blue shirts, I couldn't help but wonder whether our players had just had their lenses fitted, or just had them taken off. Maybe their eyesight was yet to recover from a mid-week Milton Keynes sojourn in that horrible cobalt kit.
What a completely woeful performance from the whole team. I'm sorry to say though that it was the normally-better players who let us down worst. George Dobson, my tip for Player of the Season, was appalling. It was as if red shirts were completely invisible to him, such was his success at finding a blue player every time. Many others have argued that Rak-Sakyi should be player of the season, aside from one atypical goal poacher's tap-in, his contribution was appalling. He looked like the best kid on a school team who doesn't want to play for the school team anymore. His indolent display resulted in ball after ball going into touch as he refused to chase anything other than the perfect pass. And as we've already ascertained, the perfect pass was never going to happen with our team. Miles Leaburn, so young, so dangerous, so-so on yesterday's performance. Looked like he was having a lovely little reverie about how he might spend the Villa millions. Michael Hector the once calming influence on our defence seems to have morphed into someone who works more with his arms than his legs. Standing around watching balls all around him, while constantly waving his arms at the ref. It's as if he thinks asking someone else to do their job is a substitute for doing his own. Ashley Maynard Brewer, for a much of the season a dependable shot stopper; I'm not sure he's saved one at all since his brother appeared on Charlton TV bigging him up. As for the rest, well we already knew they weren't good enough. On yesterday's evidence we need a total clear out, not a partial one.
The highlight of the day for me wasn't on the pitch. Something caught my eye in the gents bogs that interested me to the point where I got my camera out. Well played whoever did this.
I don't think so. Holden wants to look at him to see if he is worth keeping.
I know it's said quite often of current players, but he truly is one of the worst players we've ever had play for us. I seriously don't think he's even good enough for the National League based on the dozen non performances I've seen him make.
