Agree they should’ve perhaps kept the socials quiet, it would only encourage the divs to throw abuse at them.
Young lads who have just finished a long hard season with little or no chance to have had a beer or two with mates, enjoying the start of their few weeks off. I’m sure they’re gutted it didn’t turn out better but getting stick for doing what young blokes do is a bit harsh.

i don't really tbh - just glad you're not disappearing as well after the embarrassment of Monday - hopefully you stick around to discuss the further 'slow decent' should it continue next year and beyond - which i think and obviously, am hoping, it will - want to laugh at you, not cuddle you
I certainly remember going to the old den in the early / mid sixties and there were posters on all the entrances and exits warning that the ground would face closure if there was any trouble. Wasn’t a nice place to visit and still isn’t.

We were no angels at about the same time. After playing Gillingham in the kent cup the train was virtually dismantled by the time it got back to Charlton.

My bad. I didn't go in '67, so wouldn't have been at that match. The '67 was a typo, sorry. JS died during the World Cup in '66, when I was nine, and I never went to the Den after that - and have never been to the New Den either. Also, after a game we'd be in the boardroom eating sarnies etc for a couple of hours while JS and my dad had some beverages with football connections. So any post match shenanigans would have been over long before we left the ground, even I had attended that game. But I honestly don't remember any trouble in the ground during the matches I attended. I can't remember how many games I went to - maybe ten or twenty? I remember one where Harry Cripps saved a goal with his hands, and Stepney saved the resulting penalty. I do remember the toilet in the boardroom was just like a big tin thing. Apparently there wasn't plumbing because of the surrounding railway lines or something? It's all a bit of a blur if I'm honest. The next Millwall game I went to was when my dad took me to Charlton v Millwall at The Valley 31st Dec 1966 0-0 (29,000). Dad was a Charlton fan (posted to Woolwich barracks after the war ended) and after JS died he told me more about Charlton, and got me to read JS's biography. I hung around at the gates after the game collecting players autographs in the programme. I wish I still had it. After that the next time I was Millwall was the game at The Valley nearly 54 years later when the ref cheated us out of a draw after their keeper dropped the ball and someone slotted it home. A couple of years later I was playing for my school and wrote to Charlton asking for a trial. They actually said yes, but I didn't turn up because I realised I was rubbish. 54 years is a long time. There's still a rumour floating around that I'm either still a Millwall fan, or was until five years ago. It's not true folks. I was as gutted as anyone when we lost in 2020, and when Naby Sarr let Smith nod in the winner in the away match. We could and should have drawn both games. But I don't hate them, because they looked after JS when the Glikstens didn't.
Like others have mentioned they are not a well run football club at all. they are a well funded football club. Not sure it has been mentioned but I think when the 4th goal went in they showed Berylsen shaking his head. Priceless. He goes they will be back to taking 6 pts off us in L1.

Very interesting story you give into your grandad,and the set up behind the scenes in the boardroom at Millwall.Your grandad must have loved taking his grandson to both his place of work and football. Children always remember grandparents and another story about your grandad that you have given an insight to. Thanks for that. I have also read Jimmy Seed,s books . Two of Charlton favorites characters share Farnborough Hospital in common. One passed away there 16th July 1966,and the other was born there 23rd March 1936.
Both Jimmy Seed and Colin Cameron go down in the folklore of our club.

Thanks LC. I was very proud to sit next to him with his overcoat and fur hat, and some fans used to give me their programmes for him to sign at half time, I remember that clearly. He also used to leave a couple of minutes before both the full time and half time whistles, to go to the boardroom. At one match he missed both Millwall's goals. When I asked him why he left early he said it was 'to make the tea'. But it was the actually the same reason that many do it now - to get a drink in before the queue built up at the bar. Colin was born just a couple of days before JS's birthday. JS died on the day England beat Mexico in the World Cup, undergoing a 'routine' gall bladder operation. I was at boarding school, so missed the funeral, sadly.
The Football Association is investigating tweets of an alleged racist and Islamophobic nature which appeared on the account of Millwall's head of youth recruitment Barry Dunn.
The numerous offending tweets, which have been seen by BBC Sport, were on an account which had Dunn's name on it.
The Twitter account now appears to have been deleted.
In a statement to BBC Sport, Millwall said they are "co-operating fully with the governing body".
A spokesperson for the Championship club added: "The club is aware of an active FA investigation into the social media activity of a staff member.
"The club cannot comment further while the investigation is ongoing but wishes to reiterate its zero-tolerance policy against discrimination of any kind."

They have an owner that has stuck with them and funded them adequately without breaking rules and came within a whisker of making the Championship playoffs on a budget that is probably about 16th or so in that league and an income of around the same. A manager who has built that team over seven (?) seasons. As much as I dislike saying it, that sounds pretty well run to me. At present they are a long way ahead of where we are and frankly it’s hard to see where we make up ground.

Worked as an apprentice in Deptford in the early sixties. Most of my colleagues were Millwall supporters, who kept trying to persuade me to go to the Old Den, even though they knew I am a Charlton supporter. I did go eventually when they played us in the Kent County Cup, surprise to all, we of course lost. Saw no problems and my colleagues were too busy taking the piss out of me to get involved with trouble.

My point on this was that without Berylsen's wealth they would not continue to be a 'well run club'. Yes they get the best value out of every £1 they spend and yes of course I am jealous of them and would love to be in their position. But they are very lucky to have the owner that they do have. It will be very interesting to see what they do this summer and for next season. Of course I know who Kavanagh is but he is still reliant on the owner. If he returned to Charlton or even Southend he would not be able to turn around either club without financial backing and of course the trust to 'let him do his job'. Football as a business is pure madness. Sutton I recently read are a well run club with a loss of only £274k. It is just crazy and when the owner stops putting in the funds as we know only too well the consequences are not good.

A manager who has built that team over seven (?) seasons. As much as I dislike saying it, that sounds pretty well run to me.
