I found it difficult concentrating on that interview. My eyes were drawn to the rivulets of blood oozing out of that Charlton badge and I just kept wondering if this was a horror film of the death throws of Charlton.
I wish Dean Holden well and he's not under the same pressure that Nigel Adkins, Johnnie Jackson and Ben Garner were under as just keeping Charlton up or out the bottom 6 would be an achievement after winning just 5 League matches and not being able to beat any team in the bottom 12 this season.
Just as well Brighton isn't his first match in charge.
So many 'comedians' looking for cheap lol's. Give the guy a chance at least.
General observation. Not aimed at you, Phil.
I don't think many fans have ever not given a manager a chance, at least since Fraeye anyway.
But pretty much everyone accepts it's not the manager that is the issue. The owner can keep changing managers every few months to mask his own failings but we all see through it.
I can’t help it but these disruptive moments always make me feel optimistic. I imagine the kind of turnaround the English test team is enjoying and dream about us having 8 straight wins and the mood lifting and the fans all excited …… and I wake up and have to live in the shitfest we have become in recent years; this time though
Can’t be bothered to get too enthusiastic or downbeat about these appointments as my apathy level is so low. And I’ve got a feeling there is more happening behind the scenes than we are being told. Best I can hope for is that it all works out.
As far as I am concerned Holden is responsible for what happens tonight. In his interview he said his appointment has been on the cards for a while, he says he has seen us play a lot, and it has been his decision to load the Brighton pressure on Anthony Hayes shoulders. Giving Holden a chance happens tonight, right here right now as Brighton fans might sing. I am not interested in Holden having a honeymoon period however unreasonable that might seem, all the club have to do to calm things is to knock a fine premier league club out of the cup this evening. Otherwise Holden is in deficit with me.
The language of the announcement is a direct dig at CAST by TS. You wanted experienced professionals in key roles……….
Don’t know what to make of it all and I’m struggling to be bovvered to be honest. One things for certain, the situation announced yesterday is only a holding position for something else. Whatever that is is anyone’s guess. I can’t say I’m optimistic but we’ve been conditioned to routine pessimism of late. Let the soap opera continue. Good luck Dean. You’ll need it and I doubt you’ll be here long. You really couldn’t make the last ten years up. I remain fearful for the future of our club.

That’s a bit hysterical invho. You’ll give yourself an ulcer.
Yeah, but I have paid for a ticket, Holden hasn’t. My ulcers have monetary value, as well as emotional investment. I am intrigued by the position that argues give Holden a bit of a chance, and am interested as to why I should. Hasn’t Holden got into this with his eyes wide open?
The situation at Cafc is multi layered: Because Thomas Sandgaard is persona non grata and has the polar opposite of the Midas touch regarding his custodianship of Charlton Athletic, Dean Holden comes with baggage by association.
We have again reached the situation where perverse amusement is gained by Cafc losing. We are drowning in negativity and I can't see anyway back for Sandgaard as his support has been eroded as quickly as sand castles with the incoming tide.
It shouldn't have to be personal with TS but his plans and words look ridiculous from the moment he arrived. Damage limitation for Charlton this season unless a miracle occurs. The January window is catch 22 because which decent player would want to come to Cafc unless we are top payers in League 1 and if they are potential championship players why come to SE7 ?
If he starts kicking this squad up the arse, then that’s a positive start for me.
This team can play better and have proved that on a number of occasions, why they can’t do that more frequently I haven’t a clue. Perhaps confusing tactics from BG?
On the other hand, how difficult is it to play a game of football? I’ve seen more clued up players and teams in my local park.
Might start telling people I support Cheltenham Cletic.. It's less embarrassing than Charlton Athletic that's for damn sure
Funny you should say that. I’ve just been renegotiating my mobile contract with my supplier. My previous security question set several years ago was “what’s your favourite sports team?” All three operatives with whom I have conversed in the last few days have had a chuckle at my answer. Back to my mothers maiden name or my first school again methinks……!

This is one long bumpy road.
Money talks mate and if the takeover is done or at least the money men in the background provide the funds as we are nearly there we can go and offer very good terms to some of the leagues better players or from above willing to drop down maybe for more playing time if the money is right im sure some would come

Like the fact he wants to make us more direct and not so possession based...we certainly have the attacking players for that.
Do hope he is backed in January though by whoever is in charge.

Having said that it, he is not Guardiola level.
***Edit after reading his Wiki, Christmas has come early for the geezer.

Seems a non nonsense kind of manager to me
