Journalists focusing on the choice to leave out Sterling rather than Rashford.

(Sterling isn't available due to a 'family matter'.)
Sterling isn’t even on the bench so please stop with the conspiracy.
    huh?

You understand what quote marks are right?
Less about understanding quote marks and more not knowing whether you’re on your soap box or not at any particular time.

5 sub rule and we need pace to come off the bench so Rashford delivers than against tiring defenders.
No problem with line up but Sarr needs his A game.

Rashford is our impact striker, god knows Wilson isn't.

Holland beat Senegal 2-0 in the first match when Depay wasn't fit, England should win by at least 1 despite Senegal being the AFCON champions.

Some cool Senegalese culture whilst we all wait.

  • Our first real test of the tournament as they qualified on merit  so who knows.

I don’t buy into this “we did not allow Iran and Wales to play”, as they were both crap, the USA gave us problems and I think Senegal will.

If we have aspirations of winning the tournament we need to be beating the likes of Senegal and progressing.

The cream is rising to the top now with all the fancied teams beating the smaller teams, I just hope we are not the first upset of the knockout stages.

    Come on England
  • Southgate just said Saka was excellent in the first two games. First I can understand but I thought against USA he was awful!

I rate Saka (and Foden) more than Rashford generally, but you also can't argue with 3 goals in about 100 mins so far as Rashford has.

I've given up on talking about Southgate's selections being good or bad given we've generally done ok when I think the selection is a bit odd, so fingers crossed he's right and come on England!!

Prefer England in blue shorts. No reason why they couldn’t have worn them tonight.
  • Ian Darke on commentary here in the USA.

Saka was never getting there, settle down everyone
  • Both sides a bit ragged. Either nerves or turgid performance incoming.
  • Maguire running in treacle a couple of times already tonight. Looks vulnerable.

Maguire and Stones against pace is worrying if you dare to look beyond this game.
  • Huge let off...

    Huge let off...
    Best open a window
  • Been Man Ute’s Maguire not England’s Maguire so far. Bit Cahrltoneaque in the first 20 mins. Lots of the ball without creating much while the opposition look more dangerous when they actually get forward.
