but neither can you assume that RD won’t deal with someone because PV is involved - after all, he was involved with Sandgaard.
PV was involved with the TS takeover? Presumably he had no idea how a TS ownership would turn out?
It’s well documented that PV was involved with the Barclay interest but RD refused to engage on the basis that he already had a deal with ESI. PV met Sandgaard at Wayne Mumford’s instigation and helped him take his interest forward, for example placing the story in the SLP in order to get RD’s attention. RD will have known that PV had been involved, although leasing the ground wasn’t something PV supported, hence Barclay etc was his preferred option, but once RD was able to do a new lease instead that was what was going to happen.
So RD’s assumed reluctance to deal with PV is not as hardline or personal as some seem to think then? With RD already having a deal with ESI it’s based on a simple business agreement, rather than some dislike, vendetta or personal agenda against PV?
I think RD’s motivation was to avoid being on the hook for the £7m ex-director loans if the club went bust.
These loans don’t seem that significant in a world where we lose £8m a year anyway?
Roland wasn’t losing anything at that point. Why would he want to pick up a £7m liability?
Fair enough I assumed we would be a loss making institution even back in the champ

Roland didn’t own the club in 2020 is the point. The losses weren’t his. But the loans would have fallen back on him because they are secured on the freehold assets.
After tonight’s game I’m not going. It will be a bitterly cold evening made worse watching Brighton humiliate us on and off the pitch. If PV really has something or someone lined up I think he may just convince whoever they are they that they will need very deep pockets and a shed full of luck to make this club head upwards.
How much would a potential new owner need to take over - £100m would probably be enough to buy the Stadium, Training Ground, buyout TS plus fund the club short term, beyond that it’s a money pit for a L1 club - hardly an attractive proposition
Before tonight's abysmal excuse for a performance, there may have been a chance of a decent turnout. Now, surely, only those with masochistic tendencies will attend to watch what is likely to be a record home defeat. Please, please BHA, show some pity to the poor souls in the home seats.
Okay so PV has got Spivs and TS involved so far… 3rd time lucky I hope.
The Spivs weren’t the first choice, but they were the only 2nd choice. Not sure enough of our fan base realise just how desperate we were at that time. As others have said, we actually had quite a good period under them anyway…until the Cash man pulled the plug.

i know its been talked about a lot, but can anyone give a reason why that happened? I'm very out of the loop.

If I was a businessman I'd let the club go into Administration & pick it up far cheaper than £100m. Probably do a deal with RD to turn the screw on TS.
The sticking point will always be the price. It always has been & always will.
After last night's complete capitulation and humiliation we really do need to hope and pray PV has a decent potential owner on board. I fear that if not, we are screwed and in a tailspin we won't get out of. To coin a phrase often used on here...the next few weeks are crucial without doubt!

I was thinking this last night, you'd need to commit about £100m straight off the bat to get everything back under one roof and fund rebuilding the squad and everything. I just don't see it as an attractive proposition for anyone.

I’ve heard it all now. Do a deal with Roland to put the club into administration !!??
All sounds to me like things are at an early stage and we would be foolish to get hopes up. Considering our position in the hierarchy, current position in the table/poor form, weak playing squad, world economy situation and that property ownership is separate from the club - a lot of things have to come together to finish in a takeover from a committed wealthy owner.
My love of this club makes me look at the positive in all things CAFC but it is extremely difficult to be optimistic at the moment. This is not just TS’s fault but a cumulation of years and years of terrible decisions and chancers.
I have a big fear that we could be witnessing the beginning of the end.

If it goes into administration Sandgaard gets nothing. It's in his best interests to give it away before it does.
May only go because my son is a teen and would like to see a Prem team play at the Valley. I will be going very reluctantly, if at all. If any prospective serious investor is out there, their due diligence should be suitably comprehensive to understand the opportunities and risks without 8-10k ‘putting on a show’ unless we are playing a tune for another egotist?
All that said, take nothing away from PV, who has done and continues to try to do a lot of good for our club.

If I had £100M I wouldn’t spend £100M on Charlton.
It’s such a mess, I’m really sure what sane, non-dodgy, person would really consider taking it on.

I think if it was any other individual other than Peter Varney, who asked, a lot of people would be staying at home, especially after last night’s performance.

Oh absolutely, I don't know who would take it on when you could buy a championship club for at least half of that. I'm sure PV means well and any bidder would do full due diligence and know what they'd be letting themselves in for but the situation is an absolute mess.
