Yeah they did (but set up a B team), his LinkedIn says he left in June 16, they closed their academy the month before.Henry Irving said:
Didn't Brentford scrap their academy which would make his role redundant?ForeverAddickted said:
Wonder what made him swap his role @ Brentford for Non-League Footballkillerandflash said:Slightly surprising we've appointed someone who hasn't been in an EFL club since 2016. He's been a club secretary, but at a pretty low level

Welcome and best wishes Ron.
Make sure everything is in the right place at the right time, and most especially we never get sanctioned for playing an ineligible player.0 -
I’m surprised he has taken a step down.Chris_from_Sidcup said:"He joins the Addicks from Maldon & Tiptree".
At least he'll know a couple of our summer signings.......8 -

Seems a sensible appointment for a key admin role. Welcome Ron.

Can't wait for things to go tits up... Movie is ready to go:

How tall is he?3

like we did in the 70's , Dick Tydeman , but we got away with it. He had played for Gillingham in the FA Cup 1st round and appeared for us in a later round. We could have been kicked out the competition and fined.seth plum said:Welcome and best wishes Ron.

I think its fine to have a positive / negative view on appointments where the role has an element of decision making / influence on strategy for the club. People rightly have a view on Keohane because people hear about / see / experience the impact of his decision making on the club and its employees. Likewise with Peter Varney. Both were / are able to influence the direction of the football club, whether on or off the pitch.
As I understand it, the role of club secretary is operational and functional. The only criteria for judgement should be competence...
Welcome Ron.

We will if the club breaks the rules. The secretary’s most important job is to ensure that doesn’t happen. Think Chris has done pretty well on that score.carly burn said:Whelmed. Proof is in the pudding I suppose.
How would we the supporters know if a club secretary is doing well or not?
Simple answer is..we wouldn't.
Good luck Ron

All this negativity. Dammned before he starts by some. He has been interviewed and deemed the best of whoever applied. Presumably Chris Parkes thought he would be ok for the job. Get over it11

Why do you think Chris would have been involved in the recruitment of his successor ?Bromley Graham said:All this negativity. Dammned before he starts by some. He has been interviewed and deemed the best of whoever applied. Presumably Chris Parkes thought he would be ok for the job. Get over it0 -
Doesn’t look big on sartorial elegance… that jumper, shirt and tie clash.0

Welcome aboard Big Ron0

Because he is a retiring, highly respected senior official in the Club, whose job was going to a new person. It makes sense for him to 'run the rule' over his successor and form a view as to whether or not he is up to the job and to advise the powers that be. Common sense really..........oooh.......Fanny Fanackapan said:

I honestly don't see that much negativity. Just light hearted humour over his (brilliant) name.Bromley Graham said:All this negativity. Dammned before he starts by some. AFKA saying he sounds like a Fast Show character is spot on.4 -

I bet he gets blamed for something totally outside his remit by the 1st of July.
Of course he will, he isn't pwoper Charlton yet. Then he might one day be and never to be blamed for anything at all.0 -
An interesting appointment.
We have to trust the experience Parkes has that it is the right decision.0
