I actually really enjoyed that game tonight, particularly the last 30 minutes which was end to end. Much more exciting and enjoyable than Saturday's turgid game against Wycombe.
And some real good came out of it. Harness continues to show he is a talented goalkeeper with 2 or 3 outstanding saves; Matthews and Inniss both put in very sound performances after coming back from injury; Henry showed why he is highly thought of with a good performance; Kirk had his best game for us; and even old Ben Watson put on a pretty good display - you could argue he might even be in the running for man of the match.
But for me the man who caught my eye was young Burstow. There's a real talent there - an eye for goal, lightning acceleration and a knack of being in the right place. And not forgetting, of course, the towering leap he put in to head the ball across goal for Leko to score. He's a wonderful prospect. Enjoy his performances while you can because football being what it is now, sadly I can see the scouts from the big boys wetting their lips.
Youngsters all stepped up tonight. As I said earlier I'm not too proud to say I would love us to win this and really dont understand people that say they dont care. A trip to Wembley is always a good day and to infrequent for us to miss as supporters imo
When you get this far, I really want us to go all the way. Won't be making the playoffs so may as well aim to win something, plus its good experience for the youngsters
I saw that Live Score flashed on my phone the second that we started singing the happy birthday song to my uncle. I knew how late it was and that it would almost certainly be the winning goal, but couldn't stop to check. It seemed like a age, not knowing.

It's like the League/EFL Cup though, in which nobody cares if they get knocked out in August or September, but where the games do become more important as you get near the final.
I don’t think Kirk showed anything tonight that gives me a glimmer of hope that he will come good. But fingers crossed that he will do. The team played okay but it was also against a changed MKD team that seemed to play a better structured football. It was just they couldn’t convert.

Yeah I'm not a fan of that approach... Either take it seriously from the very beginning or not at all - Its a great competition as we're seeing to bed in some kids, but I honestly dont think Jackson would really care if we lost tonight.
If he did I dont feel we'd be seeing Williams or Ness on as substitues - But we'd be seeing the likes of Pearce or Washington instead.
Great win and experience for the group of youngsters and some important minutes for the senior pros that have returned from injury. That will all add to building a strong playing squad. Wembley bells in the distance
Had a laugh tonight. Decent result considering we started very slow, Watson was even slow at this level. Great to see youngsters getting good game time.

Agreed 100%. He's the first manager for years who has taken the cups seriously. Bowyer's attitude towards the cups was a disgrace and much as I love Curbs and Powell theirs wasn't much better.
I've long argued on here we should take the cups seriously - our record in all tournaments over the last 50 years is an absolute disgrace for a team of our size.

It was interesting that we packed our bench with kids, whereas MKD had more quality on their bench, but didn't use it!
Ness and Williams both showed some good stuff when they came on.We had 6 youth teamers on the pitch by the time we won the game. Best I have seen Henry play outside of youth football. Its a great competition to be in to blood the youngsters.
