So happy for Japan to be topping the medal table to help win over the home public after such a stressful year of Olympic challenges

Brother and sister win wrestling golds the same day for the home country? Wow.

Swimming golds are always the most satisfying for some reason. Think it must be to do with beating the Aussies and the Yanks… :-)

Why the f@@k didn’t Bianca Walkden take one step backwards with 2 seconds left and a 2 point lead - schoolboy error cost her a place in the Taekwondo final? 5 years waiting for the moment and the final secured and then it’s gone. Not sure how an athlete can deal with that.

What are the rules in taekwondo? Can you not just back off and start dancing around the mat away from your opponent?

I'm so tired this morning from trying to stay up to watch the triathlon. It was rather addictive, however I fell asleep briefly as Flora was in her last lap so missed her cross the line but woke up to see Georgia Taylor-Brown get silver! amazing.

There’s a new triathlon event (to the Olympics) on Friday - a relay involving Female, Male, Female, Male legs over shorter distances.
We have got a brilliant chance it that, the shorter distance will suit Brownliee.

More to come you'd hope. 4 * 200 freestyle relay for example

I am no expert but seemed like a huge mistake 2 seconds left 2 points ahead, surely you should never lose there? Not really a massive fan of taekwondo, just feels sometimes you get the right calls and hard to follow

Just watching that, it did seem like a massive mistake. I'm not sure any other sport can change in a split second like that

Is Football overly different when you think about the Bauer goal at Wembley?

Sunderland only had to clear their lines one last time or stop the cross

not really agreeing with your point, like it was literally the last second. Football can change in a moment but you cant go from the halfway line and put it in the top corner within a second. poor analogy

Ended up watching some of the surfing last night, essentially two blokes at a time spend most of their time paddling around followed by 5 seconds on the board. Raining, windy, looked like Whitstable in November.

He has already won Bradantse Pijl this year.  Julian Alaphilippe won it last year and Sagan has won it before.  It won't be long.

Before they fell off the board and impaled themselves on oyster racks.

USA take sevens very seriously and select/develop real specialists .. GB tend to pick players for sevens who are not quite good enough/too small for the proper game (15 a side)
