  • Pickford 7 - had about 10 mins of wobbliness after the shanked clearance.
Walker 7 - first half a bit slow to react, but his pace covers him well. Better second half.
    Stones 8 - Solid
Maguire 10 - Solid made up for others mistakes & scored.
Shaw - 8 Dodgy first half got forward more second half - Much better.
    Philips 7 - Solid
Rice 8 - Covered mistakes by defence a couple of times.
    Sterling 9 - quality player.
Mount 7 - Not as lively as I'd hoped, but solid.
Sancho 8 - lively, kept Ukraine thinking.
Kane 9.5 - Good goals, so unlucky the volley wasn't an inch further across the keeper.

Henderson 8 - came on demanded the ball, scored. 1st goal in 63 performances.

Some great analysis on the BBC of the play by 4 great England Internationals.
I wanted Shaw from the start of the tournament but I'm still surprised Chilwell didn't replace him when the game was won ? If Shaw gets injured in semi I don't want Trippier to be LB.

I loved the aerial view and the way it showed how Rice covers for the attacking Shaw, plus his relationship with Phillips on the field. For geeks of coaching like me who believe football is about relationships where you are never isolated and there is always a pass on it was porn.

Pickford thought he was playing for Everton with that wild kick ( Van DijK winced) and Walker reverted back to making mistakes 1st half. We wouldn't get away with the two Walker mistakes against Italy, and not even Denmark with the way Dolberg is playing; just saying.

Every one else was brilliant for the whole match. Sterling had his best team game, Maguire is a man mountain, Yes I did want Sancho involved in the group games, Mount did fantastic work in realising who to mark when we had a dodgy 10 minute period 1st half and worked well with Sancho in tight spaces.

Harry Kane was under par in the group games but unlike the WC he is coming good in the KO games and if he is fed like the ball from Sterling yesterday and the superb assists from Shaw in both of the KO matches we may get to the final.

This squad believes that pressure is a privilege. We should embrace, watch and enjoy the experience as it unfolds.

Mount didn't have his best game but I'm glad you mentioned some of his intelligence covering back a couple of times before half time. He's a very good reader of the game and spots areas of danger quickly. I'm gonna watch a replay of the game later. Gareth has some tough decisions for his team on Wednesday as Henderson and Sancho must also be in with a shout of starting but he's really lucky to have such a squad of players to pick from.
  • For the couple of guys on CL that thought Shaw was bad in 1st half. Also Luke started the move for the killer 2nd goal against Germany which doesn't count as an assist for him as he gave that great pass to Grealish to cross.

What a night... I'm still absolutely bladdered
Aye, me too. Going to have a difficult conversation with the Mrs later... Because I can't string a sentence together
  • Perfect Saturday evening.  Friends, food, beer and a totally dominant England performance. Nothing to moan about this morning, not even the fact that the ref had seen enough and blew for full time with only 4 seconds of injury time played. I actually thought that was a good thing.

    Right. Had a few

    Pixkford 9/10
    Stirling 10/10
    Cane 9/10
    Stone 9/10
    Shore 9/10

Southgate 10/10 can we name a station after him?
    Shore?
Have you seen the other spellings?

    Not that it matters.

@tom_k did you decide to go in the end?
    No, sadly not!
  • We’ve gone from steady in the groups and not having to change gear, took it up a level against Germany and then another level yesterday. Southgate has taken a few pelters, but he has delivered another semi final. Can’t fault anybody after watching that last night.

The big thing for me is the togetherness of the players - nobody sulking about being left out. Foden for example hasn’t kicked a ball in the last 2 games but was beaming on the bench.

On to Denmark, we are favourites, and rightly so, but I can’t help but feel we still have another gear or 2 to go.

Couldn't have been any better really, could it?

Yet to concede a bloody goal, going into the semi-final!? Just surreal.

Sterling has been one of the players of the entire tournament. Kane has burst to life at the right time. Sancho starting his first game and performing really well... The engine is starting to hum. And I didn't feel like we ever even got out of second gear.

Ukraine gave up at 2-0, that's how good we were. They saw no way past us.

No negatives, I do wonder why Southgate perseveres giving Rashford game time. He's carrying an injury (has talked about getting surgery after the tournament) and just doesn't look like he's enjoying his football at the moment.) Especially with Grealish and Foden on the bench.

On another note, Shevchenko seems like a top bloke.

Denmark will be a different test, but I fancy us to be ruthless once again.
I think he is and is involved in a number of charities involving orphaned children as well as his own foundation.

He is also a scratch golfer and plays at the same club as a number of the footballing fraternity with many of them friends through his time at Chelsea.
