Couldn't imagine if he will be going for much to even worry about it. I believe that our fee would increase based on clauses and I reckon there is a % but considering he didn't set the world alight last season for Sunderland. We may make a few hundred K?

I thought we were told the % sell on fee was "unusually high" or something along those lines at the time - unless I am misremembering or thinking of someone else?
Never got why they signed him, decent player but never looked particularly special.
Sign a load of decent youngsters for.£1m, £2m, loan them out, hope a few show enough on loan to get someone to pay a good fee for them, sell the ones that don't, rinse, repeat.

This and it was a model that made them money at academy level.
This article in today's Mirror is quite pertinent.
Equally pertinent is the current Price of Football podcast, which is an interview with the current PFA chairmań who eloquently speaks about the damage to young kids who are treated as goods to be traded and the short-changing of fans who want to see “ their own” helping to make their team better.

Masters is a quisling in the pay of bad people.
If it helps with reducing the amount of ridiculous stockpiling of talent until a player’s mid-20s and having half a dozen loans for no reason other than greed from the big boys at the top table then I’m all for it.
As poorly as Chelsea have behaved re: Gallagher & Chalobah, that’s a Chelsea problem, not League wide.
Only guessing but I imagine it would have been a minimum of 20k a week. Whatever it was you can bet your life he'll be on a lot less at Hull.
Chelsea weren't paying a bloke they signed after a few L1 games £20k a week. £5k max at a guess.
We were probably still paying him basically a League 1 U18 wage so a few hundred thousand over 3.5 years at Chelsea was still a life changing contract.
And I could see Hull paying him more than Chelsea were - first teamer in the Championship v what Chelsea would have offered an 18 year old.

Kasey Palmer was on 15k pw when he first went to Chelsea (Source - his dad) so I doubt Burstow would be on less than that.

Who knows for sure, but I'd be surprised if Chelsea were paying all the 18 year olds they sign/poach nearly a million a year each.

They won't be because the loan them out and get the loaning club to pay some or all of those wages.

With the loan fee probably covering the rest!
I doubt Chelsea have lost out financially on burstow, a gamble that didn’t work!

But it won't reduce the hoovering up in the first place. While Chelsea are pretty obscene, all the big boys are at it.
Deal now completed, can’t find the fee anywhere so no idea if we’ll get any money or not
Says around £2m, we get a share over £1.5m
Would imagine it's only 10/15% so might just cover 2 months of Frasers wages. Does go to show we probably got a decent deal up front as he hasn't gone on to be the massive saleable asset Chelsea were hoping for.

Wonder if Chelsea have done the deal so its less than £1.5m now, and then rises to above that figure later on - Meaning that as a result, they MIGHT get out of paying us anything
I swear there were two clubs involved in a deal like that a few years ago, where a third club like us lost out, because of how the financial package between the buying / selling club had been done

Almost certainly, the same goes for most transfers now. It'll be maybe £1/1.5m up front with the rest hit by add ons. My guess is based on appearances and goals. Appearances I'm sure he'll hit, goals I'm less sure but we'll see.

I got told it was £5k when he 1st went there and then when his contract run out and he wanted to leave Chelsea upped it to £15k.
Nobody by Kasey, Chelsea and his agent know for sure but Chelsea run their academy like a business where KPI's have to be met.

Wasn’t it Pope going to Newcastle from Burnley? Didn’t they do a player swap as part of the deal? Thus reducing the profit that Burnley made and therefore reduced our sell on profit figure.

Well worth a listen, Callum.
