Right peed me off this one. Lookman right from the start you could tell had that little bit extra. Burstow may well go on to, but he really hasn’t shown anything like that so far. His overall play has looked like he’s not even ready for League One yet.
Chelsea just taking a massive punt that the loan fees they get for him over the next four years and a potential Championship / lower Prem sale in a few years time will make the whole project profitable.
It depends on the fee for me, and I know it'll probably be undisclosed.
£2m say, it's frustrating as it's only say 3 or 4 players in. Although I get he's only got 18m contract.
Once you start getting higher than £3.5m £4m, if we spend it wisely that can buy a promotion squad, and for a kid we only got in from Maistone a couple of years ago, that's good business.
Silly boy... This is just the start of his loan journey
I am sure you calling him silly will really upset him when he runs out at the Valley on Saturday earning twice what anyone else on the pitch is.
If he is good enough no reason he can't go on to play for England and Chelsea's first team, whilst being paid a fortune to develop.
Worst case scenario, for him, is he will bounce around the championship for ten years and be a multimillionaire by the time he is 30. I don't know why people see going to Chelsea as some sort of death sentence.
That will never happen: Scoring goals against League 1 opposition doesn't make you a premier player.
Money talks and he will be on about 15k a week, as another 18 year old at a lesser Premier club from a League 1team is on 10k a week.
Why on the last day of the window ?
Like I said if he is good enough. I don't see why people begrudge him earning a good living, getting world class coaching, and as we well know he will play for someone.
Another in the long line of players sold before we really get to see them or achieve anything with the club. The loan back won’t really benefit us as we’re not going up and ought to survive the drop. All we’re doing is assisting the further development of a player who won’t be here next season.

Agreed. When all our players are fit I’d still have Burstow as only the 4th choice striker.
Whilst he’s nicked a few goals he hasn’t been MOTM in any game he’s played so far.
Think some of the suggestions here that we should be getting £6m+, £3m etc are pretty wild.
The lad has scored two goals in League One.
So why are Chelsea in for him?
Chelsea is football's equivalent of Bargain Hunt.
They scour the markets looking for young players with a bit of potential ... and not necessarily potential to play for their first team, just potential to hold onto for a few years to make money from loan fees and then flog off to make more cash.
Isn't that part of the club a business entity in itself, having to make money?
Personally, I see it as footballing money laundering.
Hope he’s not a starter unless absolutely necessary. No point developing a Chelsea player.
Why have ANY loan players then? None of Bielik, Gallagher, Millar were ever going to join us permanently, and the likes of Cullen and Maatsen joining us permanently were remote too.
To be honest as long as there is not a clause saying we have to play him a certain amount of games, it’s a good deal as long as the fee is as good as it should be, if he carries on scoring it benefits us, if he doesn’t he sits on the bench at best and someone else plays. No point in getting precious, I just hope TS has been ruthless, in the way Chelsea are in mopping up talent.
Chelsea really are scum aren’t they. This isn’t even about signing some kid who is absolutely tearing it up. It’s purely he has some potential and therefore a chance to profit from. Nothing more. Fucking hate football sometimes.

But then if we've spent £500k on Kirk, £500k on Fraser, £300k on Aneke.
You'd hope TS & JJ etc can see a very talented 18 year old kid who's ceiling will be higher than L1, and who a few PL view the same way is worth significantly more than those type of players.
£1-1.5m for example should not be acceptable. I don't think £3m is at all unrealistic.
For the first time in 12 years we have an owner who I am 100% confident will reinvest this money. We are a mid table league one club, the money we get for this kid can get us promoted.

How an earth will we get to the Pizza Cup quarter finals next season, without Mason Burstow?

He will but I am not convinced it will go on transfer fees,.more towards the running of the club.which is similar to RD. Not a criticism by the way, can't expect an owner to simply keep chucking money in forever.

Hopefully it includes a sell on fee.

This really isn't anything new. Same with Harvey Elliot last season.

£6m yeah, probably.
For multiple millions of pounds. There must be loads of them.........
Washington for him to miss the 10 chances he's given on a plate?
"Burstow has broken into the first team at Chelsea this season".
