Apparently Robinson could be in trouble due to something racist he tweeted back in 2012 which has just emerged...0
-
Totally inexcusable. How bored do you have to be, though, to scroll back 9 years on someone’s Twitter feed to find something to discredit them instead of just ... watching their England debut?1
-
Seen the tweets in question. Obviously not on, but it’s the exact kind of juvenile stupid shit I was tweeting/posting on Facebook when I was 18. They’re also not that explicit, just bad jokes, that are racist.killerandflash said:Apparently Robinson could be in trouble due to something racist he tweeted back in 2012 which has just emerged...Just sounds like classic gutter journalism.2 -
Remember Andre Gray getting a ban for something similar.killerandflash said:Apparently Robinson could be in trouble due to something racist he tweeted back in 2012 which has just emerged...
I think it's crazy people getting a ban for stuff they tweeted years ago whilst a teenager. Are people not allowed to change, grow up and hopefully apologise?
Also looking at the tweets - stupid and ill-informed rather than malicious.1 -
View from my seat today - Upper Mound is an excellent stand - not a toss to lose today, sadly we did - I reckon this will go the full 5 days6 -
A slight negative to the day - look who was sat near me - utter tool1 -
I’d have found that incredibly difficult to reign myself in.2

BUT I am very pleased to advise you that I was at a Test at Lords in 2019, pissed up, and gave BOTH Mogg and Farage dogs abuse behind the Tavern Stand towards the end of play when me and my mates saw them chatting whilst Farage had a cigarette
Mogg said to us that it was not the sort of behaviour he expected to see at Lords - my mate’s response of ‘why don’t you F off you toffee nosed C’ did the trick9 -

Nope - he and Farage went back up to hospitality, and we walked to Nursery End for a couple more pintsCovered End said:

Ok - not something you like to see at Cricket, but both loathsome people and the beer mist came down1 -

I'm thankful that all the dodgy opinions I had when I was young were spoken, and hence completely forgotten aboutNorth Lower Neil said:

Brexit is causing untold problems for me and my family - I'm not sure I'd be fussed if I ruined his family day out to the cricket.Anyway, apologies, not the thread.A good days cricket although not in our favour - Conway was fabulous.Said this on here a few times but I wish we played New Zealand more in Test Cricket. We always have good games and they always play the game in the right way. Yet another 2 Test series against them...

Is the Byron Gould in those tweets one of the Gould’s who crop up on the club cricket thread ?0
-
Yes it is - he is the talented big hitter who was in the Kent Academy at that time with Robinson and also Adam BallMrOneLung said:Is the Byron Gould in those tweets one of the Gould’s who crop up on the club cricket thread ?0 -
Alec Bedser dismissed Arthur Morris 18 times in Tests. Morris was no bunny either. He outscored Bradman in the 1948 test series.McBobbin said:I was trying to find stats of bowlers who had taken the wickets of the most different batsmen. Only found batsman dismissed the most by the same bowler. Three of the top four were Mike Atherton, out to McGrath (19 times!) Ambrose and Walsh. Did he just play against Australia and West Indies? Fair enough we are talking about three of the most prolific ever fast bowlers1 -
He was the odd one out amongst the athertons0

I guess staying in against most & struggling against 3 of the very best isn't that much of a criticism.McBobbin said:I was trying to find stats of bowlers who had taken the wickets of the most different batsmen. Cracking picture!
Takes me back to my days doing a secondment in the then TCCB Press Office at Lords when I was at university in February 1993.
My boss Ken Lawrence introduced me to legendary Lords groundsman Mike Hunt (yes, he has heard all the jokes) and I asked him if I could walk out on the hallowed turf.
"No," he replied curtly, "What's more, if I catch you on my ******* pitch I'll have yer ******* balls."
He wasn't joking.
Anyway, this was during England's torrid Test tour of India in Feb-March 1993 and the series was on Sky - which very few people had back then so all the TCCB folks would get to the office really early to watch the Test match on TV, they'd get there about 7.30AM from memory.
Being a cricket nut I was absolutely desperate to get out into the middle at Lords so on my last day there - which was during the 3rd Test when Hick made his 178 - I decided to get in about 6.30AM and get out into the middle before anyone else was around.
I got past the security guard at the Grace Gates with my work-pass and then walked around to the Nursery End where, in those days before the new media centre was built, you could walk out from behind the sight-screens onto the sacred turf which was actually covered in snow, making it even more amazing as the white snow illuminated the whole ground.
It was still pitch dark as I crept out onto the outfield and made my way to the middle where I thoroughly intended to unveil my full range of shots and perhaps have a couple of run-ups to deliver phantom deliveries too.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, this bloody great flashlight appeared from behind me at the Nursery End - where I later found out that Mr. Hunt lived in a house with his family - and his sharp cockney voice pierced the darkness, "Oi! I told you to stay off my ******* pitch! Get your arse back here now!"
You didn't argue with Mick so I shamefacedly made my way off muttering my apologies to him as we passed like ships in the night as he went out to make sure that I had not damaged his pride and joy.
I never did make it out to the middle of Lords.

I gather he was bit of a tool back then but has grown up a lot in his 20s; not exactly alone there is he !killerandflash said:Apparently Robinson could be in trouble due to something racist he tweeted back in 2012 which has just emerged...
I suspect the ECB will have to ban him for it; there’s too much precedent. It’s the kind of thing I’d be sacked for.0 -

We wait 40 minutes to bring Wood on, and he's now picked up Nicholls and Watling1
-
Great use of the review.1
-
We won't see a better review than de Grandhomme's dismissal all Summer. Great work by Root.2
-
Three now for Wood.
Nwe Zealand six down.
England right back in this.1 -
Santner gone for a duck.0
-
4 wickets taken for 6 runs since Wood and Robinson came on1

Love test cricket, what other sport and what other game could you be battered for a whole day and then still be right back in the game.blackpool72 said:Three now for Wood.

Shaping up to be a very good match - we always seem to have them v NZ, don't we?0

Neil Wagner has a combined Test, First Class, List A and T20 average of over 27. On that basis, should Bumble and Ward really be that surprised that he can bat? He might be batting at number 11 but he's no Jimmy Anderson!
Edit - I'm talking absolute rubbish. That's his bowling average! His lifetime batting average in Test matches is actually 14. Still no number 115
