    Crank.

You don't have perspectives or opinions when it comes to science.

Whooping Cough is making a return, a colleague had it a few weeks ago and was really ill with it. Fewer people are being vaccinated against it.

Aseem Malhotra!  :D. Outstanding. It's funny isn't it that the only people who can be found to support the obvious silliness are well-established lunatics. It never fails. Malhotra has been eviscerated by the British Dietetic Foundation, the British Heart Foundation and various professors and researchers for his scientifically incorrect claims and his production of studies that leave out or deliberately misinterpret key information. So much so that in 2014 Rory Collins stated that Malhotra's misrepresentation of settled science could be as dangerous as Andrew Wakefield's made up claims about vaccination and autism. Love a bit of foreshadowing. Malhotra also has form for Covid misinformation, in 2020 before there were any vaccines he claimed that following his dietary advice could grant 'metabolic optimization' which would, in 21 days, decrease the risk of viral infection. He claimed this in a book he wanted to sell, because ultimately as we've discussed before all these disinformation characters are fundamentally grifters who have something to sell.
On his vaccine views, the AFP fact-checked him and noted that 'his research misleads on the risks of vaccination by cherry-picking evidence and relying on flawed studies, and public health authorities agree the benefits of the shots outweigh the risks'. He, of course, then linked his views on statins with excess cardiac deaths and the vaccine (immediately refuted) because it can lead you all back to his books that you can totally buy from Amazon as a three book deal! Cool link though, wonder why he can only get traction on conservativewoman.co.uk, a website whose stated aim is to combat 'the growing threats to free speech, freedom of conscience and to our Western Judeo-Christian heritage'. It's a mystery..
It can be summed up in a single word. 😃

I love dipping into this thread every few weeks and reading the absolute drivel being put by people that are scared to leave their front doors, genius.
I don't recall anyone saying they are afraid to leave their front door, in a thread about the vaccines.
  • People in England will be able to book all their routine vaccinations on a mobile app or online within the next three years under NHS plans.

NHS England said it wantsto build on the Covid vaccination programme in order to increase uptake of other potentially life-saving jabs.

Currently, jabs other than for flu and Covid must be booked over the phone.

NHS England also wants to increase community outreach in areas where the take-up of some jabs is low.

Under the plans, jabs for 16 vaccine-preventable diseases, including measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and human papillomavirus (HPV), will be available to book online by the end of 2026.

  • Regardless of your opinions on the vaccines and accepting that millions of people do take them, the streamlining of the system can only be a positive.

An online booking system that takes 3 years to design and implement.  Mmmm !
Actually, the real problem will be beating all the 'interested parties' into line and making them operate the system in the way that it should be intended.  I will not hold my breath !
  • We are in for a very rough winter with Covid, Flu, RSV, Norovirus all very prevalent. It needs everyone to take steps to reduce contact with others if you have any symptoms that might be one of the many diseases circulating at the moment.

There is a new strain of Covid that is on the rise, JN.1 variant. The most recent UKHSA surveillance report showed that the “Pirola” variant, BA.2.86, is now dominant in England. Growth has accelerated in the last three weeks, likely due to Pirola subvariant JN.1 which appeared in October and has grown markedly faster than its parent.

Compared to BA.2.86, JN.1 has picked up a new mutation which appears to have increased its infectivity and immune evasion. Certainly, its rapid increase over the past month represents the most signficant change in the global variant landscape since Omicron XBB’s rise a year ago. JN.1 will be dominant in England very soon, if it isn’t already, and is likely to drive a significant wave.

Even though it is blimmin Laura Kuenssberg doing it, the interview with Michelle Mone on the television this morning is astonishing. A study in personal justification and excuse making, diversion and wriggling, the bloke with the Baroness is equally equivocal.
They exploited the suffering of everybody and made a fortune from it, stealing from the public purse, and are now whinging about being challenged in the ‘just providing for my family’, and ‘I wouldn’t wish what I/we have been through on anybody’ response.
Michelle Mone  was made a Tory life peer, and I believe her mindset is of the type rife in the government.
Maybe the family trust could return the £60M profit that was made. Absolute scum.

We went to The Coal Hole on Friday for Xmas drinks & managed to grab the first table & chairs. I expected to catch a cold, flu or Covid as they are rife.

Half way through the evening a bloke standing talking to his mates, closest to me, turns away from them and sneezes powerfully mainly over me and my drink.
    He did say sorry tbf.

2 days later I have Covid as does one of my mates.

It's inbetween a very bad cold and flu.

Temperature all over the place, mainly shivering and occasionally baking.
Awful sore throat, ache all over, streaming nose or bunged up and can't breathe.

I do hope you aren't conflating the event of somebody sneezing on you and then you subsequently getting covid 2 days later as anything but mere coincidence...?

As coincidental as the covid lab in Wuhan that just so happened to be the same area of ground zero of the pandemic...

(sarcasm mode off though - hope you get well soon)
  • The latest strain of SARs Cov-2 is believed to be more transmissible and more immune evasive than previous strains. Immunity within the population is very much reduced due to the fact that vaccines have been limited to certain groups only and many are over a year past their last vaccination.

Covid is spread by aerosol, very fine particles which float in the air, so if you are in a room with poor ventilation, transmission to others is very likely.

I know of lots of people who have either had Covid in the last month, or have it now and it starts with cold like symptoms and although some are testing negative to start with, they test positive later on. The people I know have had varying degrees of severity, but they all say that their symptoms linger for some time and it's not pleasant.

With inter-generational mixing at this time of the year, the spread of many illnesses is going to be greater, so anyone with symptoms shouldn't be mixing with others.

In 2022, the Government Public Accounts Committee declared that of the £12bn spent on PPE, £8.7bn of this figure had been written off as the PPE was defective; counterfeit; not fit for purpose among other transgressions.
This inveterate liar of a woman still stands to make £60m from her PPE malpractices.
And guess who's going to have to stump up for that tidy profit?
I don't hold out much hope of recovering much of that huge amount but Mones twitter account is, although little consolation, good entertainment recently.

So Covid IS spread by aerosols!
I had exactly the same symptoms last week. Not as bad as the first bout of covid 18 months ago but still unpleasant enough.

  • I take every vaccine going and it's odd that since getting hit with mild Covid symptoms in first days of lockdown I've not had a cold, a cough or sniffle since.  Odd because I used to regularly get hit by a heavy cold and chest infection almost every year without fail. I had a jab in 2019 offered by the surgery supposed to counter the effects of pneumonia if it takes hold, and I can only put the change in my experience down to that vaccine.

Most of my family and extended family  have had the latest Covid variant, even the vegans and wellness warriors with cupboards full of vitamin pills and natural therapy tonics, while, myself, an omnivorous toxin consuming pariah, am still waiting to succumb.
