I have just had Covid for the 1st time which is remarkable in itself really as I worked normally throughout lockdown and came into contact with it pretty often. Felt rough on Friday and tested positive, went to bed and basically slept until yesterday morning. Was lucky in that it was basically like a heavy cold but now feel fine. I appreciate that I have been lucky but it has made me think about the requirement for another vaccine personally. If you are frail or have underlying medical issues then I can see the reason but it wasn’t that bad for me personally

The fact is, according to official data, we have recorded
this year to date over 40,000 excess deaths in the UK. That's 200 (a plane
load) a day on average or 70,000+ a year.
We urgently need to know what’s causing it.

But I’m sure lockdowns and lack of access to Hospitals/Doctors has massively contributed to the excess deaths we are seeing. That seems far more likely than what you are suggesting.
Also longer term, health and social care budgets have been decimated by the Tories, this has meant excess deaths have been occurring before anyone had even heard of the word covid. Tories austerity is estimated to have caused around 300k excess deaths between 2012 and 2019, so it could just be a continuation of this trend. When you add in increasing inequality and a cost of living crisis and you are again seeing conditions that will see health deteriorating and more people dying.
Looking at your suggestion of the reason vs those 2, I think it’s very clear that these are far more likely to be the main contributing factors.

Also lots of women have been having miscarriages, and people have been having heart attacks that are otherwise healthy etc etc....

You’re probably right, but if there’s another pandemic where the virus is airborne and easily transmissible then there’s a danger that hospitals won’t be able to cope. With covid that almost happened, despite lockdowns, so what would happen if we just let the virus rip through the population unchecked? Worth considering imho.

Had both done at Aspire in Sidcup this morning. For those in the area (I know a few on here have used them previously), you don't need to book and they're accepting walk ins. I had booked and was in and out in 5 minutes.

Each to their own but i loved lockdown and being paid to stay at home. Obviously i was in a fortunate position and if you are a business owner it would have been like living in a horror film or if you weren't being paid. I had so much free time and got loads done. Also i was extremely fortunate to not have any friends or family affected by the virus to worry about. It was like being retired but without being old. Apologies if this comes across as disrespectful to anyone who was affected.

The working from home shift was the best thing to come out of the pandemic for me.
The two hours a day five days a week I spent commuting has been swapped for more time actually working and seeing the kids. Not to mentioned the money saved.

My arm’s a tiny bit sore but other than that, no reaction. Am pleased as the last couple made me feel quite rough, although more than worth it to minimise the risk of serious illness if/when you catch it.
Because of what I've been through I got the jab along with my family also on Monday. Both girls were fine except a sore arm, as for me absolute crap for three days but I'd rather have the jab than get covid. Funny thing was there were more walk-ins than the were booked places. I don't think the government have picked up on the fact that a lot of people really don't want to interact with the Internet. However, it was a good thing to see lots of people and offering the flu jab at the time was clever, I just wish though that we'd followed the USA and offered jabs to all ages especially the over 50's who would've got one last year but not this time. Different times it seems and all about the money and resources I suppose which is why by next year it will probably be purchase your own covid vaccine from your chemist!

Was only expecting the Covid jab and not planned on the flu one as I get that at work. The flu jab was on offer so, left arm Covid, right arm flu.
