Looks like they've just done the announcement from his Wales squad hotel room
Yeah, the club are fed up with having to read all the moaners on CL saying we haven't signed 6 or 7 players yet.

Anything to keep us happy.

I'll get one of my boys/girls on it.

@i_b_b_o_r_g can you organise the team please.

Hope you remember to add @DICKIE PLUMB (?) as green on your IDK list after he mentioned he'd seen Chris @ Sparrows Lane

Done, and it's now on the OS here:
  • Fantastic signing.

  • Ironically, I had literally just typed "Also on Monday, the BBC website published a piece saying that Chris Gunter was set to join us having been released by Reading - this has yet to be confirmed as of Wednesday night" in last night's bitesize, so I'm going to have to go back and change that now...
  • happy with that
  • "Yeah but we need a striker blah blah wibble"

Exactly. Why are we signing a right back right now?

We should be signing a striker first!

  • Very pleased with this.

WE WANT MORE....WE WANT MORE.... 😁

Current Wales international, 97 caps, " ...... he’s definitely too good for L1."

Does he qualify as another "raised eyebrow" signing?

  • Beyond signing a good player in his own right it bodes well for the approach and standard of the Sandgaard era transfer approach.
In prior windows Matthews not signing would leave us scrambling for a has-been or an unproven loanee as a stop-gap, or playing Barker every game out of position. Now we have added experience and reliability to the defence without any real decline in quality.
Obviously the striker situation still needs sorting, but this is more evidence that Gallen and Bowyer do know what they're doing and are working on solutions.
  • Absolutely great signing. Very, very happy with that.

    Gunter is amazing.

  • It's a 2 year deal with option for a 3rd year.

I wonder how much of the wage cap it takes up  - and whether the contract is structured to contain an increase in wages if promotion is achieved this season?

Why is he wearing the shirt and also holding up the shirt?
Williams lent him his to pose with whilst Levitt let him wear his top for photos aswell....Nice lads
  • That'll stop the ESIv3/Bowyer out posts for a couple of hours. Welcome to the club Chris.

    Forgot to bring Scarfy.

Olly said to him, "Here's another shirt, that'll do, they'll never notice".

  • 2 years with the option of a third is so refreshing, even if he is north of 30.

  • That'll be the end of Matthews then, if he doesn't get a Championship move I can see him signing for a promotion rival
  • Great signing but really the worst kept secret ever,
at least it is now official

Except on the transfer rumours thread.  Hardly caused a ripple there.
  • Happy with that, good signing.
