Great signing for us. He's not the most capped Wales player by accident and he's someone who has historically been consistent and not struggled too much with injuries, which sadly can't be said about Matthews. He's ahead of Matthews for Wales and doesn't have the same fitness history so if we're going to only really have one specialist right back it makes sense to bring in the one who can regularly play twice a week. I'm sure we'll cure him of his lack of injury problems soon though. Got to say, Watson, Famewo, Gunter and Maddison are four fantastic signings for this level, you can't really argue with the Sandgaard era signings so far.
Ironically, I had literally just typed "Also on Monday, the BBC website published a piece saying that Chris Gunter was set to join us having been released by Reading - this has yet to be confirmed as of Wednesday night" in last night's bitesize, so I'm going to have to go back and change that now...
Beyond signing a good player in his own right it bodes well for the approach and standard of the Sandgaard era transfer approach. In prior windows Matthews not signing would leave us scrambling for a has-been or an unproven loanee as a stop-gap, or playing Barker every game out of position. Now we have added experience and reliability to the defence without any real decline in quality. Obviously the striker situation still needs sorting, but this is more evidence that Gallen and Bowyer do know what they're doing and are working on solutions.
I wonder how much of the wage cap it takes up - and whether the contract is structured to contain an increase in wages if promotion is achieved this season?

@i_b_b_o_r_g can you organise the team please.
Welcome Chris.
Anything to keep us happy.
Means if either Williams or Levitt are injured or out of form then we've still got the necessary three to get a game called off
Not spectacular but a solid, experienced defender from a higher level.
Pleased he's here.
Exactly. Why are we signing a right back right now?
We should be signing a striker first!
WE WANT MORE....WE WANT MORE.... 😁
Does he qualify as another "raised eyebrow" signing?

Gunter is amazing.

Forgot to bring Scarfy.
Olly said to him, "Here's another shirt, that'll do, they'll never notice".
at least it is now official
