  • Leeds back in it early days at Anfield

Started well - Just dont think Liverpool have it in them to defend their title
  • Brilliant game so far.
  • 3-2 Liverpool

    What a start
  • Just hope this doesnt see Bielsa going with another Goalkeeper next game

Been quite nice seeing Casilla getting dropped as No.1 for that Leko incident last season
  • 96 goals and 41 assists for Salah in 154 games.

Not a bad purchase for about 45m.
  • Gomez is getting absolutely crucified on twitter for his first half performance

At least he didnt give the ball straight to Bamford

He’s not been good but Van Dijk has been terrible. Gomez a scapegoat because Van Dijk is one of the best CBs in the world and a fans favourite. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t been awful though.

  • Leeds will cause a lot of teams problems this season, Bielsa isn't going to change his style or go more defensive. They've had more possession than Liverpool so far too.

Chelsea bought him for £11m. Mourinho started him half a dozen times before getting rid of him (eventually sold for £12m). The same man sold KDB for £18m.

Think there biggest problem will be conceding too many goals with the way they play. Works ok in the Championship when you have the attacking players they had, but I don’t see Bamford or Rodrigo getting loads of goals.
  • Just had to do a double take when sky showed spend in last 4 windows
    chelsea £302m, Man U £255m ManC £226m Spurs £186m, Arsenal £173m and Liverpool £23m

Liverpool get most of their players from Charlton...  ;)
  • Leeds deserve that!!... Cracker of a goal
  • Liverpool being somewhat matched in the "pressing" department!

Bamford didn’t get loads of goals last year either though. Quite a few different players chip in. Their second top scorer last year was Own Goal.

They’ll have a good season. The football they play is unreal. Biggest problem they’ll have is getting Bielsa to sign beyond this season, no chance of it happening imo.
  • Puts our 4-0 defeat in context...

Saw this the other day, money spent since 2000

    4 English Clubs
    3 Spanish Clubs
    2 Italian Clubs
    1 French Club
    0 German Clubs
  • Leeds very very impressive I must say.
  • That was a blast to watch!

But before everyone starts saying how well Leeds will do this year, remember that Norwich beat ManCity 3-2 last year and also looked great and everyone said the same thing. But their poor defense never improved and eventually other clubs figured out how to shut them down and they got wiped out.

    We will see!

Fair point. Bamford still scored 20 odd though didn’t he, 18 league goals?

I do agree that Leeds are good to watch, and that they have plenty of players capable of chipping in. Just think it’s a very risky strategy in this league. Worked last year because they conceded the lowest amount of goals in the Championship, but I think they will get punished a lot more this year, as tonight showed.

Leeds blew me away last night. That's a proper footballing system. Their midfielders runs to overload the opposition defence are almost choreographed. You have 2-4 players begin sprinting into the box or breaking the defence's lines at the exact same time, always leaving men spare because the opp can't organise quick enough. We're so used to talking about being organised in defence but you can have an organised system of attack.

It strikes me that nearly every player is quite similar, as well. Smallish, strong, fast, very fit and highly technical. There's no clatter-you type player or pacey yet flimsy winger, they're all similar cogs in a machine. (Bamford appears to be the weak link and anamoly in this but his replacement fits the bill).

Disagree that they will struggle in the Prem or their style won't suit. Bielsa is a master tactician. They will do well.
  • 4 penalties in 5 games so far on opening weekend
  • Shocked how high Doherty is playing on that right hand side for Spurs.
Fine being there for Wolves with 3 CBs behind your but in a back 4 it’s leaving so much space behind and Alderweireld doesn’t have the pace to keep up with Richarlison.

Aurier played in a similar position last season as well.
