I am surprised England still has as many teams as it has. I don’t see how clubs that need staff and players can maintain viability with 1500 people in attendance. Most clubs can’t afford the capital expenditures necessary to maintain their own stadiums or training grounds. Relegation is a devastating event most clubs must deal with regularly. And with most owners being disliked by their fans, it is not a venture most owners do anything but regret doing. There are not enough multi millionaires in England to keep 72 clubs alive in a country of 55M. And not enough billionaires to keep all those Championship clubs in existence either, with the average one losing 100% of turnover per year. The main reason crap owners take over these clubs is because good ones have no interest in such ventures. When the EFL ceases to allow these owners to buy them, more clubs will simplly go into liquidation, earlier. Bury’s last owner was approved without much of a review because the alternative was liquidation within 24 hours. The merry go round music has been slowing for years and I think it is about to stop for many.
Now THAT is proper mental if it turns out to be true.
Put a massive bet on at long odds when it looks like Wigan are going to get themselves safe. Buy the club and run it into admin incurring a 12 point deduction and almost guarantee the relegation.
Don't believe a word if it. As they said.....its a rumour. Nowdays with social media someone makes something up & within a few hours it's all over the place as gospel.

What other logical reason is there for selling a club to yourself and instantly dropping it into admin?

That they dont care ?
Seems a lot of hassle / money for a bit of a laugh?

You become the major creditor of the administration.

You do but......
They don't appear to have many other creditors as that was a cleared by the previous owner and the loan repaid by this take over. The land is worth no where near the debt, even if you disregard its part owned by the council and the rugby club have a water tight life time lease.
On the face of it it makes zero sense which opens a void in reason that people fill with wild speculation.
Born in Hong Kong, Stanley Choi has always been a businessman, primarily. Choi has been a shrewd investor for many years, while founding YunFeng Capital, and being one of the largest shareholders within Simsen International Financial Group. He is also an important figurehead for The Nature Conservancy project.
Stanley Choi has shown a great enthusiasm for poker over the years, as more than just a way to relax and have fun. He credits poker with helping him become a better businessman, and has spoken about attitudes towards poker in China, and how they could progress positively in the future.
As a man who isn’t afraid to test himself against the world’s best poker players, mostly in huge buy in events, you might think that Stanley Choi wouldn’t have any significant results to his name. In fact, he is #1 on China’s all time money list, although it’s important to point out that this was largely the result of one defining result.
The Macau High Stakes Challenge Super High Roller in 2012 saw him take 1st place, and the USD$6,465,574 1st prize. In December 2013 he backed this up with a USD$117,800 win at WPT Korea, and in November 2015, he added over USD$401,000 at the APPT – ACOP High Roller event, where he finished 2nd.
As much as he is an impressively successful businessman, Stanley Choi should not be underestimated as a poker player.
I don't think you'd get a lot of joy out of claiming that bet. I think the kind of people who would take a $100m bet on a dodgy deal are also the kind of people who would see you putting your own team into admin to force a points deduction and quite happily not pay you.
What's the likelihood of a payout on this 'bet'? Do you honestly think on such a corrupt mythical bet, that those that lay the bet would payout and not take violent retribution for being conned?

I've copied that to use for us in the next few months/years.
Looks like Rick Parry has heard the same

Even a dodgy bookmaker would be suspicious if someone wanted to bet millions on a team being relegated
Theyll be making money out of this somehow.

I doubt he would have struggled to find people to take the bet. $6.5 million for a few hands on poker 🤯🤯
Although there would be loads of ways to move "smaller" bets.
