Sounds like we'll get two permanent players, Striker will be one of them and a CB if we can the othercarly burn said:
Doesn't seem overly bothered about the lack of centre Half's. A striker is his no. 1 priority.ForeverAddickted said:
Reckon the three loans will be: CB | CM | Striker, if of course we get a CB on a perm then we'll bring two more Midfielders in
Koiki apparently isnt towards the top of the priority list0 -
In that interview he talks about 3 more loans and a striker, then says he wants 5 players in total. Seeing as Koiki is a free and not a loan, I'd expect him to be the 5th signing, but only if the 3 loanees fill the right gaps in the squad3

Sounds like we can only afford 1 permanent, the striker. Then CB, Midfielder and Striker on loan.ForeverAddickted said:

It's not that we can only afford one permanent, but the loans will have more quality but don't want to commit to a League 1 club. Their club's, Premier or championship don't want them to leave permanently at this stage.

It's definitely about affordability and the wage cap.soapboxsam said:cafcfan1990 said:

Based on this article, is it fair to assume that Gunter is 'a naturally fit player'. Seems like Bowyer doth protest too much.ForeverAddickted said:

Lockyer was under contract, but had the option over a specific time period to break it, which he didThe Red Robin said:0 -

The fact that Giggs still included him in the Wales squad despite him having no club says something, as he left Ashley Williams outBalladMan said:

Come to think of it, Ashley Wiliams could do a job as an experienced CB for a season...5 -
IMO there are better and younger ones without a club.killerandflash said:

He was awful at Everton and really believed in his own hype once got bigged up in the PL.
You should know the warning signs from ex 'have been' good CBs finishing their career lower down the league. Motivation to show a L1 striker who is boss just isn't there.0 -
He played 32 games for Bristol City last season though, and would be motivated by the chance of playing in the Euros next summermendonca said:He was awful at Everton and really believed in his own hype once got bigged up in the PL.

Sounds like Bowyer is getting pissed off about being asked when we are signing people.......clive said:

We need to put all our eggs into getting a top proven league 1 striker now - a marquis type who can do a bit of everything - run the channels, aerial, score, work hard - not get injured!!! and maybe an exciting loan striker from a prem club with pace. Surprised reading LB's comments that we couldn't afford Gunter last year but can now - must have paid well over the average £2k for him surely and we will need to do that to get the quality of striker we will need.

He was great in his first season for Everton, and then I've never seen a player drop of so badly from one season to the next. He came back after the summer and looked like he'd forgotten how legs work. He's since has two decent seasons at Championship level though so it might just be that the PL was too much for him at a certain pointmendonca said:He was awful at Everton and really believed in his own hype once got bigged up in the PL.

There is no way our permanent centre backs in the squad should be Pearce, Oshilaja and Ashley Williams! Just one from those three will be enough alongside an up and coming CB, for me.0

I'd use Charlie Barker. If you're good enough you're old enough and it didn't stop Rufus or Gomez.mendonca said:There is no way our permanent centre backs in the squad should be Pearce, Oshilaja and Ashley Williams! Just one from those three will be enough alongside an up and coming CB, for me.1 -

He isn't though. He has been ok since he came in but if you want to get promoted out of this league he should not be starting.golfaddick said:

Not a rumour for us but wouldn’t mind Ben Thompson if they don’t want him.

LB “It’s so important that we get a striker through the door because we’re very, very short in that department.”
Hmm yes2 -
Thank God he said that, it will save me hours not having to read everyone else stating the same thing.charltonbob said:

Don't overlook the fact that he has played out of position. Famewo and Barker can play the younger CB role for me.J BLOCK said:

I'm not, but let's have it right, he isn't experienced enough to be part of a promotion winning side. I have no doubt he will be in time, but suggestions he should be starting in our defence is wrong.mendonca said:

If anything those examples prove your point. I think Barker and Famewo should be being rotated to ensure they play at the quality level required.golfaddick said:

I don't see a Gomez in Barker yet, but he is developing well and sending him to National League (as Bowyer would to enable recall) for me wouldn't be any better than playing in the U18/23 sides.2
