I think in my heart of hearts my dad left at the best time now as he wouldnt have known the shit storm at the club and he would be having absolute kittens over the grandchildren with the way of the world at the moment.
Its a funny thing to say but hope you enjoyed the day, I did in the end and felt I gave my dad the best send off I could give, Im sure you feel the same.
I see Les was at Wembley for one of, if not the greatest, performances by an international team on our shores - from The Magnificent Magyars! That 6-3 defeat and the subsequent 7-1 thrashing of England six months later by that side helped to revolutionise football here. Although when my Dad arrived here, two years later from Hungary, clubs were still training without a football!!

I think all the members of the Charlton 'A' team shown against Bexley United (formerly Bexleyheath and Welling) made at least one first team appearance bar Hills, Elliott (Ray not Paul) and R Dawe.
Elliott did play league football for Exeter along with Keeley.
Note Billy Bonds at centre half! He was a right back in our first team before West Ham stole him!
A pleasure to see them go somewhere where they’ll be appreciated. The museum has had about half the collection so far - will get the rest over the next few weeks and drop them down
I thought I had been at that 5-a-side tournament but when I checked my programme it was the year before for the Met Police at White City (and Charlton won that one).

The famous Barry Hughes was the trainer of Haarlem as any DUTCHMAN will tell you.
As a man born in London i have had Barry Hughes chucked at me so many times i have loss count.
What you have not heard of Barry Hughes ,well i know how you feel.
He was a famous footballer in England don,t you know.
Check him out he played for WBA YOUTH TEAM,had to laugh and he is welsh .
Famous as a singer over here also.
Les Turner now that is a famous englishman.
