Nope I’m referring to a text I received this afternoon from a pal who works for the club
So he has been offered a deal already from ESI, and said no, is that what your mate said ? Or that ESI wouldn't want to offer our most important player (24 goals and many assists say he is) a much improved contract.

    Yup bang on the money!

Would be very surprised if Barnsley let him go.
Looks like he is out of contract in the summer so maybe open to offers.
  • Who is Green?
I'm. I always recycle and pick up all the litter in my cul de sac.

But do you drive an ugly Prius?
  • Most if not all our "star" injured players are players that have a history of injury.

Anyone expecting our "star" players to slot back into a team that started so well and off we go again are deluded.

We are on a slump that will take some getting out of from here on in.  Good investment and a couple of crocked gooduns back hopefully will save us but this is Charlton people and nothing comes easy.

I can well see us rich and in D1 next year.
Oi, you can’t say things like that. Apparently they will all be back soon, injury free and never to be injured again, with quality players joining in due course. Relegation? Bah humbug.

Ah well, let him go then. Obviously wants a "pay day" and no longer wants to play for us.
    Good luck to him.
  • Has Taylor ever renewed his contract at the same club? In this case past behaviour probably is an indicator of future behaviour.

While I agree no-one is bigger than the club, let's not underestimate how difficult he could be to replace, and with Bonne out injured too.

Intetesting challenges for the new owners - we will get a good idea of their mettle very quickly.

He's 29 and we are his 8th permanent club. His 3 years at Wimbledon (where after his first year he signed a new 2 year deal) are the longest he's ever spent at a club.

It would also be madness for a Bowyer to say - we are going to buy 8 players now .  Clearly we don’t want to give away what money we do (or don’t) have .
Interesting that Bowyer said words to the effect of ‘I’m not to to alienate the players that got us here’ when talking about new signings.

I can’t remember if it was on the SLP site. So to me there is a hint that there could be quite a bit of money.... or it’s a smokescreen for there isn’t quite as much money as you all think so I’ll temper expectations by feeding you this.

I expect and hope it’s the former!

As for Lyle last night, was there anything obvious in the match, like signals to the bench, to suggest he was having an issue?

From the Daily Mail. (Not linking because f*** them).

West Brom and Swansea join race to sign 19-year-old Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher

The 19-year-old is expected to cut short his season-long loan at Charlton this month

Premier League club Burnley are thought to be frontrunners for Gallagher's signature.

Not that I noticed on the box however the camera tends to follow the action. He had the chance of a big payday in the summer and you can't blame him at this stage of his career for still hankering after one now. Don't get me wrong he has been great for us and I'd rather he stayed but life will go on if he leaves and no player is bigger than the club.

Conspiracy theories will always arise during a transfer window. Who knows if it was a genuine tightening in the thigh muscle or not but there is no way he is going to risk a further spell out injured or the chance of a big payday elsewhere. Watch this space.

          Yesterday’s news - literally.

Bows says he has spoken with Lampard and he is happy with his progress and expects him to stay.

I would have thought that one learns more about a player when the chips are down and that the only circumstances that he would be recalled is if Chelsea wish to sell him. I do not believe that they do.
        • Great post.

I'm confident that if we'd kept 80-90% of our squad fit then we'd be up there in the top 6. Especially when you see Millwall up there.

People need to be realistic, yes we have money, but we're not going to go out and buy 7-8 players in this window as when the original players return we'll have far too many. If we can sign a striker, centre mid, centre back and left back and get the likes of Williams, Bonne, Hemed, Cullen, Oztumer and Field back fit then we're going to be ok.
Field is out injured for the season

Against Bristol city he looked bang up for it - his touch was good, he was sharp and energetic - I didn’t see that against Swansea - was Bristol city showtime to prove fitness for next club or are we imagining things or is he genuinely just not 100% yet?? Didn’t see any signs of a thigh injury but who knows

        • Awful news regarding field but like leko aslong we get someone in who is fit to start ASAP it might be more beneficial than trying to get field match fit for a further month once he returned next month. We're in desperate need for match fit seasoned pros in the middle of the park.
        • Unfortunately, I am afraid that people need to brace themselves about Taylor. It seems quite likely that a team like Brentford will see him as the last piece to get them into the Premiership and will offer 6/7/8 million and he will have to go, not least because he will be desperate to do so.
At 29, this could be his only chance to play in the Premiership and he will be desperate to take it. If he stays here and very best case scenario we go up next year, he would still be 31/32 years old and maybe past it. So it is about far more than any contract we can offer.
I would say this is a situation ESI have been landed with, not their fault and people will need to realise that.

Shit didn't know that, as i hadn't read about him being sent back.

So we're terminating all of Kayal, Leko and Field's loans then i assume. Green will replace Leko. Need at least 2 more midfielders then.
        • can we still include all the players that aren’t at the club in our injury list
mendonca , hunt , Rufus to be added to it

Quite upset that you didn’t put Gibbs

You’re right Shooters... Bowyer should be shouting from the roof tops that he’s desperate to sign anyone he can and has a bottomless pot of money to spend. It’s the surest way to get a good deal on the players he signs.

I wonder what planet some of you lot live on sometimes.
Thats not what ive been saying and you know it. My point is without serious investment in the team in the next four weeks there is a very good chance of relegation. Of course I have no idea the budget or intention of the new owner but it doesn't matter. Do you really think that if for example Charlton were to approach Peterborough about Toney that it wouldn’t be common knowledge for every agent in about a day. I know even if it were true which I don’t think it is by the way that we are now “rich” you dont want to shout it from the rooftops but football is a very close knit world and what fees and wages are offered by clubs are common knowledge very quickly. Very nieve to think otherwise. Charltons league status is at present in serious risk and we will know just about everything we need about ESI by 1st February. 🌎

If we were to go after Toney (and i doubt we will) then i'd like to think we'd be sensible and get 2-3 other signings in first before announcing to the country we have 8m+ to spend on a striker.

Is that how it works ? Negotiations are always tricky and deals happen when they happen and not when or in the order you want them to.
