If his CV said Barca, Bayern and Juve do you think he'd be training with us?
His total transfer fees amount to £450k and has never excelled at any of his mediocre clubs over career.
Gallen and Bowyer won’t sign him then if they don’t think he’s good enough.
You would like to think so, Unless we still have one of the lowest budgets in the Championship and a 29 year old with an indifferent CV is considered to fit our profile. For every Taylor and Kermorgant towards their late 20's that have signed for Cafc we have had 100's of mediocre players who tried but were lacking. 5 days left of this window, and I can't get rid of nagging doubts. I believe in Bowyer and Gallen but what is our budget in this window ?
I also don't think we'll make top half though, nor do I think we'll be in a relegation battle.
As much as I hope we avoid it and think we should - this isn’t correct in the sense that we are already in a relegation battle.
A lot is resting on one game v Barnsley. Lose that and we are in the sticky stuff big time..... so if one game means so much I would suggest we are already in a battle to avoid the drop.
he's played for st.etienne for the best part of his career, a well established french club (who would be the equivalent of most championship and some prem clubs i would have thought) and played in European competition so i'm not sure why people think his cv is unimpressive - its whether he has the know how and grit for the championship battle he;s gonna be in that concerns me more but 100% faith in bowyer and gallen.

I wouldn't have thought the budget is anywhere near enough to squander money just to keep the natives happy. If the only decent players available at the moment, are those who want too much, there's not a lot anyone can do about it except the player or thier agent of course
bowyers concern about jumping from one level to another too quickly i guess boils down to not creating disharmony in the squad by signing players on double or triple the wages - that is the difficulty we are facing currently i assume and one we may have to risk - summer will be when the 'upgrade' has to happen across the board and we can start shopping in a different market - i hope.

I feel bad for a player who's best part of his career is 66 matches across six seasons. Mind you he spent a season on loan at Club Sportif Sedan Ardennes, "who?" I hear you all say. Best described as the French equivalent of Coggeshall Town.
These 5 days will define ESI as far as I'm concerned. Get it wrong and relegation dog fight looms.
Saying 'players/agents wanted far to much won't work. Just pay the going rate.
How do you know they are not prepared to pay the going rate? How do you know what is being asked for in wages and fees is above the going rate for the standard of player?
I want the squad added to as much as anyone but not at the risk of boom or bust approach.

To be honest mate, I reckon the lack of activity is probably more down to Bowyer and Gallen not thinking a player is worth the dough, than what it is ESI
I am surethe club are looking at a number of left sided cb's, particularly ones that can play LB. I suspect Pogba is a back up option given that he is on a free and we can sign him after the window.
Have him train with us and see what hes about, enquire about others (Kean Bryan) and if we get no one else once the window has closed give him a deal till the summer.
In terms of numbers at least this isnt our priority position.
I’m hopeful that this will be a good week. Couple of decent signings, beat Barnsley...
A couple? Bowyer wants 4 or 5.
Have you ever heard a manager, of a struggling team, say I don't want any, or one is enough?
Sadly yes. Karel Fraeye in a silly meeting, when asked about strengthening the team, said he didn't need more players as he could only field 11 at any one time. I suppose you could argue about whether he was really a manager - stooge might be a more appropriate term.
Tbf Fraeye didn't need a big squad, because he knew how to get them to run around and spread out.

I'm not sure how reliable Wikipedia is in terms of games played I seem to remember in the past some of the signings from abroad didn't seem to have played many games ever but in reality had played a lot more than shown on Wikipedia. I know there's some examples out there I just can't think of any off the top of my head while at work.

Didn’t he also say something about only being able to play 11 at a time?
