I agree with Ally Mc Coist if a player agrees and signs a contract he should see out that contract. It is as simple as that. I can't believe some of the posters who are sticking up for Taylor.
Seems to be popular on this site to blindly side with any player that's leaving, gives posters another reason to slag off how the club's been run recently.

Some will be in Taylor's position hoping to get a final significant payday, some will be young 21 year olds at the start of their professional career who are being let go, or a journeyman pro who just wants to replicate what he is getting now with his new contract. The list will go on and on. Every situation will be unique to them and there may well be others in different situations to Taylor who could still rationalise in their own minds that it might potentially be worthwhile economically to forego the last couple of months of pay from their current contract in case they get injured as they are sure they could pick up another 1, 2 or 3 year contract elsewhere.

Thankfully Taylor appears to be in an extremely small minority of players who would do that. The game is in a bad enough situation as it is.

Exactly right. The more players who refuse to play at the end of their contract the more farcical the game gets.
The more the game becomes about social media profiles, wages and transfer fees the less appeal it has. It's a team sport not a platform for individuals who think they're doing everyone a favour by turning up.
The media in general play up to the likes of Pogba and the pointless agents who care little for the game. Taylor's attitude just echoes this.

Sadly, our survival (or not) will have more to do with shady meetings played out on Zoom and Skype than football matches played on the pitch. It's quite likely that what happens in front of the judge's bench with be more important than anything happening in front of the subs bench.

Well, Addick Lyle has barely managed two years before hastening to clear his peg, out of nowhere this tough-guy's strength and physical well-being seem to be an issue and an undue risk for him to contemplate a maximum of nine games in the shirt of shirts - after over three months off - and his devoted fans are left to choke as the sweetest of names has become for evermore tainted and sour. On top of everything else just now, why the devil this as well? Really, Lyle?

No way would say Brentford have told him not to play for the rest of the season, especially as we are due to play them. That would be considered a massive breach of the rules.
Football operates separately from normal life, it's not like a normal job where in your last few weeks you hand over your responsibilities, tidy your desk and go for long lunch breaks, as the last game in your contract is potentially just as important as your 1st or 34th. Clubs aren't stupid, if we were relegated with 2 games to go, I'm sure Bowyer would be happy to leave Taylor out.
The integrity of the league season relies on it, and it's this structure which generates massive public interest and makes lots of players very rich. If the FA AND PFA had any sense of morals, they would instruct its members to play the full season, and for clubs to extend all contracts until the season is ended. These are extraordinary times, and everyone has to show solidarity to the wider game.
They would have indicated a preference for him not getting injured with a clear implication that he shouldn't play for us. Informal and off the record. Taylor will know where he is going and how much he is going to be getting. He is not going to say anything that will undermine his new club.
But this goes on in football all the time. Clubs are always telling young players they can't play for their schools or clubs anymore. It is the culture of clubs and ridiculous to think is these strange times with the season extended into the summer that this isn't what is happening here.
Players are free to negotiate a move 6 months before their contract is up so, if what you're saying is correct, why ain't there more cases like this of players refusing to play the last few games for their "old" Club? I don't think this is the case at all, and even if it is, it still don't change the fact that Taylor is a w****r for doing it imo
The reason is that it would be obvious in normal circumstances what is going on. Also, should the player get an injury, there is a significant period before the new season commences. There are unknowns here and excuses that can be applied because of the virus and clubs are happy to stitch each other up. There is no honour in football, it is a dog eat dog business sadly.

a) He was great for us whilst he was with us and gave everything b) He is not loyal to us or anybody else and we are not his club. That suits us when he is leaving Wimbledon on a free and not when he leaves us. c) He does have mitigation that he has been messed about and used a bit as a pawn in our ongoing saga. d) He does have mitigation that it is normal for players to put themselves first and at the stage of his career he has at, maybe an even bigger factor. e) Is he being disloyal. Yes, I think he is, but I suspect he thinks he has given us more than most and may disagree. He is a player, there are very few of them that really put the club high on their list of priorities. It is one of the reasons I dislike players kissing the badge. Mind you, I have never seen Taylor do that.
Ultimately, we are in credit with him and his legacy will be a decent player for us rather than a legend. I'll clap him if and when he returns but I do think he is disloyal. It is just he can join a club with a massive membership in that regards. It stains football as we have passion and loyalty for our club and hardly anybody else in the game does. But I won't single out Taylor in relation to that.
