I expect Theresa May to wear a 4 in 1 scarf showing the 4 English teams next time she meets Merkel for another of her Brexit meetings...

Much as I dislike the way football finances play out these days, I always want to see British clubs do well in European competition. Great to see them all doing well.

Whatever tie puts Liverpool off winning the Premiership please
Reinstate FC Baku and make Liverpool play them with both legs away.

Although id take City beating them in the final and winning the Prem.
  • The pass from Messi is quality.  Perfectly placed and weighted through the whole defence for a tap in.
  • I hope Liverpool draw City, and Man United get an easier time before facing the winner of that game.  Would mean a great QF and a derby in the semis either way if United win.

Was reading a Man United forum post and they suggested that if they get Ajax they should easily roll them over. Hmmmmm any team that beats Real Madrid 4-1 at the Bernabau should not be taken lightly. Hope the plastic fooks get Barcelona and get laughed out the CL

An English club winning a cup, how many English players are playing in these squads nowadays?
  • An English club winning a cup, how many English players are playing in these squads nowadays?
English Players who were actually involved (inc. used substitutes) from the 2nd Legs

Dortmund v Spurs: (4) - Harry Kane | Harry Winks | Eric Dier | Danny Rose
Man City v Schalke: (3) - Kyle Walker | Raheem Stirling | Phil Foden
PSG v Man Utd: (5) - Marcus Rashford | Luke Shaw | Ashley Young | Chris Smalling | Mason Greenwood
    Bayern v Liverpool: (4) - Jordan Henderson | James Milner | Trent Alexander-Arnold | Adam Lallana

Also more would've been used were it not for injuries. Alli, Trippier, Stones, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Lingard would've all featured.

Which as much as the press etc. like to slag off English clubs for a lack of English players, the above is pretty standard.

The other quarter finalists had as follows

Barca - 4 Spanish players featured in the 2nd leg

    Juventus - 5 Italian

    Ajax - 6 Dutch

    Porto - 3 Portuguese

That Barca figure is interesting as during their "peak Pep" time it would have been much higher, reflecting the decline in Spanish football in recent years. Indeed they would have had at least 5 Catalan players in the team!

UEFA will hate the fact that the english sides are dominating.

I'm fully expecting to see 2 all-English ties.

saying that I think they will be happy that Munich are out. they had a banner at the game v Liverpool stating "Fuck VAR. Fuck UEFA"

Juventus and Liverpool will be smiling

Can't see Man U's defence coping with Barca's attack

City will expect to beat Spurs, but the pressure is all on them and Pep

    So we would expect:

    Man City v Juventus
    Barcelona v Liverpool
  • Ronaldo v Messi final

    or

    Pep v Barca?
  • City and Liverpool will both be pretty happy. Not only have they both got decent ties, but it also means the other side has an interest for longer thus diverting their attention away from just the premier league.
