  • 2 bonus points....wahey!
  • Celebration time:

Kent get a second batting point ... they're becoming addicted to them!

    Kent 251-2 (62 ov), Denley 96*, Kuhn 45*

    Other scores ...

    Durham 129ao (39.1 ov) v Northants 53/2 (19.3 ov)

    Glamorgan 203ao (59.4 ov) v Warwicks

    Gloucs 145/3 (64.0 ov) v Leics

    Middlesex 145/8 (54.5 ov) v Sussex
  • Time for another (small) celebration ...

Heino reaches his fifty off 68 balls. Time to push on for his first ton of the Championship season.

    Kent 265-2 (65.4 ov) Denly 103* Kuhn 50*
  • Our batting is both out of sync with our 1st innings performances this season, and elsewhere in the county championship!

Overtaking Warks and Sussex could be tough, though they have to play each other still
  • 299-4. Denly and Kuhn both out...
  • Hope we can pick up a 4th batting point. 5 is a dream too far probably given the length of the tail.

  • Sussex are struggling a bit now. 92/5
  • 360-6

Four batting points in one innings?

    Ambassador Billings, you spoil us!

108-6, hopefully no batting bonus points!

365-6 at close, a definite chance of the 5th bonus point

Well there’s a nice unexpected surprise.
  • Sussex 120-6 at close. Surprising elsewhere Essex had no play due to rain, I didn't think it had been that wet there
  • First casualty of the day, DBD caught behind for 44.

    393-7 (101.1 ov) Stewart 34*

Seven more runs required in 8.5 overs to claim the final batting bonus point ...
  • Sussex have already lost 2 wickets. 139/8
  • Maximum batting points!

    400-7 (102.4 ov)

A word of caution: the only other time we've scored this many runs in the first innings we managed to make Gloucester follow on ... but couldn't then finish them off, came up a couple of wickets short.

Have no fear......Henry is here !

The previous occasion Kent managed more than 400 in the first innings:

    Kent 582/9d (Dicko 117, Denly 107, Stevo 89, Rouse 55, Podders 53; Miles 4-122)

    Gloucs 240 (van Buuren 83, Noema-Barnett 73; Henners 6-58)

    Gloucs (f/o) 322/7 (Dent 76, Howell 67, van Buuren 59; Henners 0-62)

The (second innings) wickets were shared between Denly, Podders (two each), Stevo, Ivan, DBD.

    Henners (24.4 - 9 - 62 -0) and Riley (14.2 - 5 - 28 - 0) went wicketless.

    Back to today ...

Stewart has reached 50, must be eyeing up another ton!

    439-7 Stewart 54* Henners 21*

  • Nearly made 450 within 110 overs!
  • Sussex are struggling, now 166-9, trailing Middlesex by 3 runs. They'll do well to get any batting points from there which will help our cause.

Warwickshire have just lost another wicket, 170-4 in reply to Glamorgan's 203. Promising youngster Ian Bell is 74*.
  • Stewart brings up the 450 ... surely that must be worth a bonus bonus point?!

    453-7 Stewart 62* Henners 22*
  • Stewart is very hit or miss, once he gets in he's scored big runs!
  • Stewie misses out on his second ton, bowled for 85.

    512-8 Henners 58*
  • Congratulations to Matt Henry who has now hit his highest first class score, beating his previous best of 75. He reached the milestone with his fourth maximum.

    Well played Henners!

    552-8 Henners 81* Riley 16*
  • All over - Henners and Riley fall in successive balls.

    561all out
  • From 331-6 and 393-7 an amazing job to get to 561
  • Kent all out for 561 with 53 extras
  • Already getting the feeling may be tricky to get 20 wickets on this pitch
