Surely this will weaken May's position. Already seeing many political leaders criticising this and the EU insisting no new deals. This is just delaying the inevitable departure of May. I reckon she'll resign by the weekend, if not today.

I guess my stance is that this al just shows how ridiculous the referendum was. To start with, it's laughable to imagine you can make such drastic changes to the UK's relations abroad with a simple majority - it should have been set at at least 66% or higher to ensure there was some level of agreement about what would occur.
Then there was the emptiness of the options. That idiot May has repeatedly claimed the UK has voted for a hard Brexit when there is nothing on the ballots to suggest anything of the sort - hard or soft. Even looking at the economists predictions about the results are so divided the idea of the electorate knowing what they were actually voting for, and doine so en masse was foolish. The Tories have failed to even mainatin any party unity to see this over the line, and Labour are really not a lot better, which is no surprise given how uselessly Corbyn has acted over this. Today we have hard Brexiteers aligning with remainers to shoot the current deal down, on another day leave will unite against remain, and after that remain and soft Brexit will unite against hard Brexit.
As an ex patriot who was denied the right to vote on this, there is a small part of me sniggering about the mess that has been made. And it's not just May. No one on the Conservative or Labour side could possibly unite their parties between hard, soft or no Brexit voters, so that Parliament is always going to be hopelessly split over this. There will be no winning here, only diferent ways to lose. And all those who have stood aside Cameron, farage etc) can now freely point fingers and blame whoever gets stuck with squaring this circle for not doing what some percentage of the Brexit crowd wanted. And did no one really see that coming from the start? This whole shambles is good for filling dull moments at work, but as an exercise in political thought, the whole process will be taught as mandatory what NOT to do in future political classes. Unintelligence 101.
Remember when we used to laugh at countries like Italy for having such shambolic governments? This whole farce is ruinous for the UK's reputation.

Interesting, the government has added a statement on Article 50 to today’s running order in Parliament.
Could just be a “we recognise the judgement of the ECJ today but we don’t care as we’re leaving in March 2019” but could be something more exciting.
Already seeing many political leaders criticising this and the EU insisting no new deals. This is just delaying the inevitable departure of May.
