Ridiculous, from the Guardian -
''The UK government spent almost £100,000 on Facebook adverts promoting Theresa May’s Brexit deal in the lead-up to the Commons vote being pulled, figures released by the social media firm show. As the Press Association reports, the company’s ad library report showed between Sunday December 2 and Saturday December 8 the UK government spent £96,684 on 11 promotions on Facebook. They included videos on “what the Brexit Deal means for you - explained in 60 seconds” and others focusing on immigration and jobs. Three videos, intending to explain the deal in terms of free trade, the economy and “controlling our borders”, cost between £10,000 and £50,000 each to promote, reaching between 500,000 and one million Facebook users apiece, the Press Association reports.''1 -
Exactly, fuck May and fuck corbyn. Both awful human beings who shake hands with murderers. The difference is corbyn does it in his own free time, whilst may does it under terribly misplaced diplomatic reasons (a head of government meets a head of state - on the surface what is new?).AddickUpNorth said:Henry Irving said:

Corbyn doesn't support May's current version of Brexit. That's a good thing. But he's presenting an unclear "different" version. That's a bad thing. That's about all that's important about him in particular with respect to Brexit.
But carry on throwing around the insults and so pretending that it doesn't matter that the holder of one of the major positions in British politics ie the so called "leader" of the opposition is lying about his stance on Brexit and is a friend to dictators and terrorists.

Yes, I find it a fascinating country - that you essentially have 2 or 3 separate cultures, with different languages, religions and (having worked predominantly in Zurich but also Geneva which are very different places united only by the astronomical cost of beer) cultures. I always try and figure out why the north hasn’t unified with Germany, the East with France and the South with Italy. I asked colleagues and they seem to just shrug and say “it works”!PragueAddick said:@se9addick
Re Switzerland..keep this chart handy. So Switzerland isn't in either the Single Market, or the Customs Union (but Turkey is), same is true of Norway. Switzerland is in Schengen, which therefore makes it a bit puzzling that they can get away with issuing some kind of short-term visa.
Very "interesting" country, Switzerland. One of my buddies here is a Swiss citizen. Last week at our regular beers we were debating recycling issues (as you do) and he told us that in CH you pay for every single bag of trash you deposit. So many Swiss drive over the border to Germany and dump their rubbish in German recycling bins. I also recall that at least in parts of Switzerland, if you live in an apartment block you are prohibited from flushing the loo after 22.00. Imagine if "Brussels" tried to enforce those two as EU-wide regulations
