  • Other interesting statistics you can draw:

94% of Leave voters were not minded to take notice of the risks to trade and the economy. (Only 6% thought the economy and trade would be better.)
43% of Remain voters voted because of the risks to jobs, trade and the economy.

No Leave voters it would appear said they voted because they thought £360m a week would go to the NHS. (Remain voters didn't believe it either, but assume Leave voters, being less well educated, thought it was true.)

Conclusion - Remain voters trust what the establishment feeds them, except if it's from Boris Johnson.

I would say the conclusion is Remain voters are able to tell the difference between real news and fake news and between facts and made up nonsense. And Brexit voters are even more stupid and ill educated than anyone realised.
Best throw my Phd in the bin then.

Doctor of Philosophy - I’d hang on to it if I were you. Somehow I’d imagined a doctorate would require better grammar and vocabulary but hey we have already been there.

I bet you are made up to be part of the intelligentsia.

    Clever you.

    Don’t worry yourself Leuth.

Chippy thinks I’m a stalker and I think he’s a semi literate doctor.

We’re fine with our roles in this play. Honest.

    I doubt either are accurate.

  • The battle for hearts and minds won't be won by calling (or even thinking) people illiterate plebs.

On threads like this, the onus is on Remoaners like me to argue successfully against Brexit (or hard Brexit, or whatever we're currently fighting idk) and present the facts in a cogent and accessible way. It isn't for us to call each other idiots, no matter how much we want to, because that doesn't get anyone anywhere.

(If someone posts something completely ridiculous, like 'Brexit will cut our hospital waiting times and school waiting lists!!!' then I reserve the right to be a little terse)

  • Do facts matter any more? People seem motivated by some kind of vibe, whatever the facts of the situation.

I guess you're right about this. Present the facts in a cogent, accessible and bloody relatable way you'd have a bloody good pint with

No just an ordinary guy who wanted to move on and do my best for my family, as we all do. Never took the Dr bit either.
  • I’m tempted.

  • ONS population growth between 2015 and 2040 projected as

    Uk 16%
    France 10%
    Germany 4%
    Italy - a small decline

That's my leave vote in a nutshell. Quite which party to vote for to provide an economy land housing and pensions to support that god only knows. I am genuinely worried for my kids future and for our beautiful green spaces and countryside.
  • Sorry @PragueAddick I don’t get it because as @Red_in_SE8 states, I am stupid and ill-educated.

This has been done to death. As far as population growth goes EU migration is the least of our concerns. If our growing population is your house flooding, worrying about the EU aspect of it is the equivalent of trying to fix your dripping tap.
  • I think if you look at immigration as an impact on population growth you have to look at our colonnial past and international presence. We will always have more people coming in than leaving.

What I find admirable and have a lot of respect for is those Briton’s who have decided to go and live in another country and culture. We are an island nation and that is in our history and culture, but I truly believe we are very insular in our thinking sometimes
