    Why Seth, what happened?

Love island is on, turnout will be low
  • There was a lively demonstration going on outside, against Anne Marie Waters the (very) far right candidate.
Whether she was stopped from getting in or not I don't know because I passed through the demo when the police established a route inside.
The other ones not to turn up were the Greens, The Tories and Labour.
I got to chat to Howling Laud Hope inside before the meeting started so that was an upside.

I went to the Lewisham East Hustings in Catford this evening, but the meeting was closed by the police after half an hour.

    Did Janet Daby attend?

    May says brexit means brexit.

Brexit means what she and the Remainer majority want it to mean-Remain under a slighhtly different hat.
well as long as we can regain the right to dictate how many people we let into this country, not be subject to the ECJ & don't have to pay anymore money to the EU after 2020 then I don't care if you call in a hard brexit, a soft brexit or a dogs dinner........and that Parliament can't block us leaving in March next year. Grieve was right to put in the amendment but it shouldn't mean we don't leave next March.

No. I was disappointed by that.
  • Just send in Rees-Mogg, he'll put those bloody Paddies in their place.

I doubt that will be the case - And Parliament will be able to block/delay it if they are not content with the terms. And I say great to that! Why the great rush? - Rushing is a major reason for our weak position.

Seeing as your business has, by your own admission, incurred doubled material costs for certain items after the vote, I'd have thought that the quicker a resolution is found the sooner you may see prices tumble gain.

Or has the uncertainty seen those prices brought back down from the doubling up that had, apparently, occurred after the vote?

God - what a tw*t you are! I made one truthful statement about costs doubling from a european supplier months back - that incidently, we have been forced not to use anymore and you planks have to latch onto it because it suits your narrative. Well one thing I will never accept, is my honesty being thrown into question - and certainly not from to**ers like you!

    Wow.

If anything, your wobbly tells me that you're a big fat liar whose pants are on fire.

    As you were.
  • now now children, lets play nicely together...
  • The rush is because, deep down, every leaver knows it's a terrible idea and that if it's not rushed through then enough people will release how terrible an idea it is and it won't happen.

Or you're like Southbank, who thinks that once you've made a decision, no matter how marginal the majority, then you should stick to it no matter how circumstances charge, nor what new information comes to light. You stick the course and if anybody dares to change their mind then they are traitors, betraying the democratic will of the "the people". Obviously for that to be true, anybody who does change their mind, for any reason, ceases to become part of "the people". As long as there is a least one true believer left then that person is "the people" and their will must be enacted.

what a load of fecking bullshit.

I voted to leave & Mrs May, by triggering Article 50, said that we would be leaving the EU on March 29th 2019 & will still be in a transition petiod until 2021.......hardly what I call rushing things.

Also interested on what circumstances have changed or what new information has come to light since June 2016......have the EU stopped freedom of movement or is it that Italy have just grown some & done what we should have done. Has Donald Trump's new diplomacy meant that the EU are looking for N Korea to join their wonderful "club"......or maybe even Australia, seeing as they were at Eurovision. Nope....everything, as far as I can see, is just the same....or worse...than it was 2 years ago.

fwiw I reckon any Referendum should have a 2/3rds majority, which would hopefully lead to a bit more togetherness.

I would be prepared to bet that no responsible UK Government will suggest a referendum in future without requiring a supermajority for change to the status quo.

Maybe HMG could ask to have people seconded for the next Irish referendum (which, according to today's media appears to be about removing blasphemy legislation).

But he didn't accuse to of lying, did he? If you can't stand by the posts you make, maybe don't post them in the first place? You're happy to question what other people post, which is quite right, why can't you accept it when people do the same with what you post?

He brought up a post where I was accused of lying - I don't play the man, I play the ball. And when somebody plays the man, they need calling out for it! (There are a small number on here who don't undertsand the difference). I stand by the posts I make - they are my views and I don't lie. And accusing anybody of lying or insinuating so is out of order.

I stopped posting because I provided a fact in good faith and was accused of lying about it. I was asked to print my business paperwork and post it on here to prove it. If that isn't out of order, I don't know what is. We don't have to agree with each other but we should respect people enough not to stoop so low.

Wrong on so many levels. People asked you what the product was and you then made a massive leap and said (and I quote):

"I stated something honestly and qualified that in most cases we have found suppliers elsewhere, but these are still significantly more expensive and in some cases we have had to buy from the same suppliers. then I get some rude crank basically calling me a liar and then you asking for more details. I am not wasting any more time on it - I was talking or moaning to people who think alike, I have no need to justify or waste any more time on any others. Do you want me to scan an old invoice and a new one and put them on here FFS?"

So you were the one that mentioned your paperwork, not someone else.

It's all on Page 14 of this thread, if you want to jog your memory as it seems to have undergone some memory bending shenanigans.

Grieve was right to put in the amendment but it shouldn't mean we don't leave next March.

People who insinuate and accuse are pathetic - I was so upset about that incident I stopped posting on here for a while and I don't need a holes like you bringing it up again. If you have a problem with that, happy to discuss it with you in person.

You stand by them, yet lose your shit when someone mentioned it, witout accusing you of lying?

Yes I said it sarcastically because it is ridiculous and people subsequently said yes!!!! Can you please drop this subject. One you shouldn't have brought up in the first place. It wasn't furthering any of the discussions - Golf gave his view- I gave my view - then you have to dig up a spat that I felt injured about, seemingly just because I have a counter view to you. That is called playing the man and it is pathetic!
  • So you stand by your posts, as long as people don't mention them.

    Interesting.

I stand by my posts representing my honestly held views and that I don't lie in them. If I am wrong I am wrong - but they are my views. When I am accused of lying or being dishonest, that pushes my buttons. I don't mind being accused of being wrong and I am happy to accuse others of being wrong - as long as it isn't personal. This post was me reacting to people suggesting I was lying - so no - I am not happy about this being dragged up. Not sure in what universe you come from where doing so is valid.
