  • I like Karl and think he is doing the best job he can under difficult circumstances, some of the stick he gets is embarrassing, especially all the "Tarbuck" comments which are out of order and juvenile.

However, on this occasion he has been a bit premature (ooooeer Missus), it will only be when we deliver a sound spanking to the Fulham U-21s in the Check-a-Trade EFL Trophy that I will dare to dream big again.
  • This is the same man who six months ago was almost in tears in a post match interview telling us that he had run out of ideas and didn't know what to do!
Come on KR tell us the reason why we should honestly believe that we do in fact have our Charlton back
Also don't forget we have been told several times it isn't "our" Charlton to get back, so why should we get excited?
  • One day we will have our club back but it might take more than a decade
  • Jesus Christ, Some folk need to get a grip. You're all just looking for a reason to get angry and upset about anything the club seem to say or do.

    Absolutely spot on
  • Does the President /shareholder /owner get "his" Charlton back when we lose
  • KR states the bleeding obvious that the team is getting its act together and gets grief from a few people who seem to think the real charlton is a team that had a few good seasons in the PL. Well it's not, the real charlton is the one I've been supporting for the last 50 years where for most of the time we've been regularly moving through a cycle of being shit, mostly average and briefly fantastic. Don't come to The Valley if you want to boycott because of Roland but don't try and undermine the team in any way with the constant sniping if you do support charlton.

That phrase is nothing to do with Premier league status and you know it.
Powell used it and the crowd sang it when becoming League 1 Champions. Robinson has apparently said it after thrashing one team 1-0 in League 1.
Strangely enough, a lot of posters on here have also supported Charlton for several decades and are fully aware of how shit, average and fantastic we've been.
However, the club has never been used as part of a weird (and failed) experiment before. Until that ends, the old Charlton has not returned.
And who has been that wonderful owner in all the years you've supported charlton ? Obviously Murray immediately springs to mind because that's the era when we achieved the most in and off the field but there are some on here, possibly the same ones trying to undermine the team now, who seem to take exception to him now. Or was it the two when we had the one sensational season under SCP ? Or Friar who moved us to Selhurst. Or Glikstein ?

I think he was refering to more the team, for me a Charlton team is a team that fights and cares and we did see that on Saturday.

One swallow and all that but if that is the way this TEAM not the REGIME play this year then I am happy and will see it as a team i can relate to you and in some ways will see it like My Charlton back.

Nothing the guy say or does will please some people at the moment.
  • Who has " got their Charlton back?"
RD and KM have been a total disaster. I am not sure who is worse, but KM is the one day to day managing with ideas and actions that are not suitable for running a English football club.
A fact, unfortunately, the current attendance is changing. There are far more children, with their cokes and burgers- I am sad to acknowledge this is KMs plan. Nothing wrong with wanting to get a continuing fan base, but as " old" supporters bring our children and grandchildren so the supporter base continues. The problem is that what happens when the current new generation get fed up and don't go?
Not having Belgium numptys as manager and imposed hopeless foreign players is a step forward but it's the heart and soul that has been ripped out. Only RD and mainly KM going can start to regain that.
  • we probably all just need to stop scrutinising his every comment in such detail (yes I know he talks a lot blah blah and probably needs to sometimes engage his brain before opening his mouth, however If that's his worst trait then that's fine by me)

I've actually warmed to the guy, met him at Welling and he was more than happy to chat and have a pic with the kids etc. Really wish him well and hope he succeeds as his heart is definitely in the right place

This is the key bit for me, he is so eager to bring success back to Charlton to actually understand what the fans want and that is why he made this comment and similar ones before.
  • Of course there is no need to insult him.
But he is way off the mark if he thinks a 1-0 win is going to bring everyone together.

It's a massive season for him and as per usual he gets carried away. However he knows that he must gain promotion this season.
  • Of course he was referring to the team - some people will take any opportunity to have a nonsensical rant .

You could have atleast quoted my non sensical rant.

There are too many to quote mate .( and I don't mean just from you ).
  • The only thing wrong with his comment is the timing of it.
Had he made this comment after say 10 or 12 games when we are top of the league I doubt he would have got much criticism but to make it after one match is a bit premature.
He is the sort of bloke who wears his heart on his sleeve and sometimes talks without thinking about the consequences, But he is slowly winning me over and I do believe he is desperate to succeed hear.
One thing is for certain if he can bring success to Charlton with our current owners he should go up in everyone ' estimation.

Had for the first time on Saturday wondered if there was more to this man than I had previously imagined.

Then he comes out with this after one good result.

    Idiot.

Unbeaten in 6, 4 home wins in a row. We're flying!

    This.

He has maybe got carried away but that is him he does, he wants to please the fans so says things a bit premature like signings in the stands etc.

  • ffs we beat bristol city, were in a league below what we was in before this cnut got here ( roland ) i dont mind the fella ( karl ) all be it a a typical scouser - quite irritating ( this is a joke) , December time if were top of the league a few points clear playing as team, then we will have an acceptable charlton back, but not our charlton.
