  • Wakey, Wakey people. If Taylor and Bonne aren't fit this month we WILL be in the bottom 3 by February 1st unless 2 strikers of Championship quality are fit and up to speed and leading CAFC front line.
Positive action and being pro active breeds positivity not just " oh everything will be alright because that nasty man Duchatelet has gone"
I still want Steve Gallen to be discerning like making sure that new permanent and loanees don't have disabled stickers on their car window screens. Unless football becomes like Ice skating and the performances are subjective, it's strikers that score regularly that win matches and as spirited as the young midfield and forwards were against Swansea, 5.9 on the old scoreboard doesn't win football matches. ( Going on the scoring system when Torville and Dean were getting 6's)
And it's Duchatelet's fault that we only have Taylor and Bonne.
    Have you forgotten Hemed ?
    Quite easy to do.

January window 2019 was a total shambles from Duchatelet where only a non scoring striker/forward came in because the budget was so low. (Parker)

The August Window appeared decent because Duchatelet stopped Taylor going 5 minutes before the deadline and we got some decent players in on loan or 1 year contracts. The fact that they have all had injuries could be down to various reasons and well as bad luck.(Gallagher, no injury so far but he is being targeted recently)

Duchatelet was a shithouse of the highest order but he realize in the summer that Taylor needed to stay, or someone younger of a similar status: Toney from Posh was that man but when Peterborough's owner said No, then Taylor buckled down and got on with it despite a life changing wage disappearing from Brentford.

I know the only reason he kept Taylor was so he had more chance of getting 50-60k for Cafc if they were in mid table or above which we were, when negotiations started with ESI.

  • Come on everyone..only look forward and never look back
  • Barely played for Wycombe but Parker could do 3 or 4 jobs for us at present without upsetting squad when better players are back. We are obviously not shopping in Harrods yet.

Just as we did in the summer with Leko and Bonne we’ll be patient and get players that can contribute in the Championship than panic and sign a player like Josh Parker. He did a job and worked hard but he’s nowhere near good enough for us now.
It is obvious ESI are not pushing the boat out this window. Ledley or a player the management knows, can play mf, striker and wide and already fits into the ethos?

"Duchatelet was a shit house of the highest order"

So nice to be using the past tense! Onwards and upwards!
  • Interesting that HE T. Nimer accepted me as a contact on LinkedIn a few weeks ago, yesterday he posted the takeover on his profile. Today I've been reading just some of the many responses and they are from across the globe and from high level appointments in companies. However 2 stood out, a football agency from Uruguay and Brazil giving a contact number for potential players and another from Africa covering the entire continent again giving contact numbers if interested in African players. HE T. Nimer seems to be have stirred some of his LinkedIn contacts that's for sure!
The Uruguayan Acworth and the African Driesen  :)
He’s getting spammed but we should take it as a positive!
  • I am sure the new owners will stump up if a player who can make a difference for the next two years becomes available, but no point splashing the cash in January if SG and Bows can recruit sufficient numbers and quality of player to keep us up.
I would guess we will sign at least one quality player this window.
  • The difficulty we have at the moment is similar to the one that Blackburn faced when they got Jack Walkers money.
you need to get the first decent signing over the line and then others follow.
i seem to remember they signed Mike Newell for a million and the rest gradually followed.
the rest as they say is history.

  • You know when we have our charlton back when you read posts where grown men are flapping and shitting themselves about bottom three and relegation

grow some balls buckle in and ride the storm

    absolute melts and pussys
Great to see you still parading your balls after all these years...

Ledley had to be a signing based on a non sale.   Things surely/will change now.

I like Lidl, they’re going places! M&S have budget problems 😉 The owners of Lidl are probably richer than those of M&S. check out the company that owns Lidl!
    Hidden cash!! 😂
  • I'm not usually one to panic and I get a bit wound up seeing the type of posts, but I am concerned.

I really thought Bowyer, Jacko and Gallens new deals would have been done and dusted by now. With the players being linked it doesn't sound all that promising. I don't expect the best players but you would have thought we may have heard of some proper names by now. Signing a Aston Villa fringe player who's record isn't all that isn't the best start?

I've seen a few people say we will get bodies in and aim to stay up and then the summer will show their true intent. I don't buy that. Relegation would be a major setback and the form we are in with the injuries we have, we are more or less nailed on. I don't believe everyone will magically come back fit and firing. It takes time. Me personally if I bought a football club, within the first 2 days I would be securing the manager the fans love for a morale boost and then be backing him. After all Lyle more or less said he wants to see what Bowyer is doing?

Maybe I'm overthinking it but I'm really not confident we will stay up if we are looking at championship reserves and league 1 players. I accepted it under RD cause it was expected but under new ownership I expect more. All this stuff about fight in a team keeping us up. A mixture of will and skill keeps teams up, not just will. We didn't get close against Swansea really and that wasn't through a lack of effort. We need players who can create those moments and put the chances away. A bunch of tryers won't keep us up
ESI had their hands tied behind their back until the deal was rubber stamped.

Irrespective of what happens in January, I repeat with wait till the 31st December 2020.

They've had one working day so far to sort new deals and even then it was reported contracts for the takeover were being exchanged at The Valley on Friday.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if new deals for Bowyer, Jacko and Gallen are done and announced next week at some point. Give them time they're not going to do this over a weekend. In fact we'll probably see a chain of announcements mostly positive hopefully begin next week.

As for players i'd be surprised if ESI don't dip there hands in there pockets but i'd be happy if any signings made from the lower leagues were cherry picked as the cream of the lower leagues as Bowyer did with the likes of Lockyer, Bonne etc in the summer and hopefully alongside some decent Premier League loans and some genuine quality where money can be spent wisely not foolishly.

For me the hardest bit will be getting that first 'big' statement of intent signing through the door be it Toney, Mowatt whoever, then others will follow and it will become easier in time to attract better players. Look at when Chelsea were first taken over they signed Parker, Duff and Bridge from there nearest rivals at the time. Man City I think signed Robinho, all very good players but both clubs had to build gradually until they could both start signing the very best players in Europe.

One thing I think we can be certain of is that contract negotiations with Bowyer and players out of contract in the summer will be handled and concluded swiftly. No more RD contracts with months of negotiations I have a feeling ESI will work very swiftly this January.
    Good points.

Still, I'll be concerned if this time next week our staff haven't been signed up, I couldn't think of any other reason other than they have other things in mind. I have already prepared for Taylor leaving
